I wonder how the lack of crowd noise will influence games?

Probably give Norf an advantage though.

Except against Gold Coast.

How can an AFL crowd be classed as a non-essential gathering? :smoking:

In their favour..young healthy athletes.
However, that is potentially a lot of carriers out in the community, around their friends and family...

Tick tock, tick tock.

They didn't do that when AIDS arrived and scarred the shit out of everyone with the Grim Reaper ... and the "if its not on, its not on." Campaign.

Maybe they play with condoms on their fingers, and a Dam over their nose and mouth.

They introduced the blood rule for this exact reason. AIDS transmission by sweat/saliva is next to impossible.

Tickets to round 1 to be refunded.

How about membership with reserved seating.

I can get that at home for free.

Apparently clubs will be contacting members about this. Good chance rounds 2 and 3 will also be no crowd games. These are our home games and lots of us have reserved seats.
Eddie Maguire was on radio during the week and when asked this question he said that members will have to stay side by side and just wear the cost.
Easy for him to say.

The opportunity for TV viewers with no crowd is to clearly hear the on-ground talk amongst the players. I actually hope they try to work that into the broadcast through some creative mic’ing.

But knowing the AFL and Channel 7, instead we’ll get “atmosphere” music piped through the stadium ad nauseam...

Almost like we are destined to never materially climb the ladder.

2020 isn’t about Eddie for me, so while this is disappointing news I’m not slashing my wrists.

For me 2020 is about our 3rd, 4th & 5th year players going to another level. That’s how we’ll climb up the ladder.

If we get 12 games out of Eddie this year and he kicks about 30 goals that will be a good return taking into all things into account.

Would've been a lot better for us if they'd just postponed the start of the season

With Betts out, Cunners and Martin have to play forward and deliver on the scoreboard for us to be competitive.
A forward group of Gov Levi Cunners Martin have to kick the bulk of our goals.

Does Owies get his opportunity ? Perhaps he should.
