3-4 wins (1 or 2 100 point losses)
Kruezer will leave via FA
Daisy Thomas dropped mid year and won't play again
Another huge list turn over

Party Crips to captain the club from 2018

SOS seriously needs to rebuild this midfield over the next two years.

I can see all that happening. The only difference for me is that I think Docherty will be our next skipper.

Docherty would be a great choice.

I expect alot more than what we turned out on Saturday but we will end up with 3-5 wins. Looking for a percentage that is 10-14th

Most of what Patrick Smith said is entirely possible.
I believe we will win more than 4 games but there is a lot of uncertainty about how we will go and same with those around us. The only team I would think we go in as favourite would be against Brisbane. And even they COULD beat us on their day.
Below, green = Carlton fave (1) ; orange = could win (6); red = likely to lose (3... + top 7 from last season).

Of those who finished below us:
Essendon* - likely to improve significantly
Gold Coast - still stacked with talent, are they still a rabble on the field or will they resume their ascent?
Fremantle - 12 months ago they were the Premiership favourite. That may have been way off but I also don't think they are genuinely a bottom 4 team either.
Brisbane - They're probably behind us but even they could beat us if they have a good day and we don't.

Of those just above us:
Rich & Port - Both overrated and have been for a few years. Probably have the advantage in harder more experienced bodies; but we could easily beat both of them on our day
Collingwood - SHOULD make some big strides upwards this year; if not, they will need a big overhaul and reset (NB: I think Darcy Moore could become top 5 player in the comp!)
North - should be around our level although will always be a tough match with a very competitive list of players.
Melb & StK - Both should improve significantly this season (they are ~2yrs ahead of us in their rebuild IMO).

re the druggies

no doubt they will get the majority of favourable decisions (or non decisions) just to reinforce their heroic victimisation campaign, an area in which the impartial non meddling afl and their affiliates have excelled in the last few years

sorry to slightly divert from your point 17th but I think this might just be the year I give up on a sport I have played and loved all my life

It's going to be a tough year. The club needs to be patient but I can't see supporters being so patient.

I can see some big defeats this year especially with teams becoming more offensive.

True. It looks like it is going to be a long year.
It is all well and good to tell us to be patient but if we continue to lose the senior players will continue to leave. Kreuzer is out of contract and the talk of Gibbs will go on all year.
I have never been less interested in the start of the footy season.

We need Kruezer to have a ripping year and some dumb club pay him overs so the compensation pick we get is a first rounder.

I'd trade Gibbs at seasons end. Try get as many first round picks and use them on mids because we need to rebuild this midfield and not through free agency

We need more than Phillips, Gorringe and Korcheck in the ruck.

Ruck is our glaring deficiency. All good teams start with a dominant ruck division.

we could field a team of jack russells wearing netball bibs, trained by a black labrador and be more competitive than what happened today.

We could probably get said canines from a shelter to win over the public.
