I guess it depends on matchups - with st kilda missing so many talls White would probably have to play forward, so maybe they are thinking along the lines of who would make a more effective forward??

Could see them putting in sumner and silvagni that way

They're really making him earn a spot..... Which is good

The VFL write-up from Josh Fraser indicated that Jaksch didn't put in the consistent effort required of him in the VFL last weekend. Not surprising he hasn't got a call-up this week.

I found that write-up really odd, because he pretty much slagged off every tall that wasn't Silvagni or a ruck. If the ball hits the deck, the least agile are hardly going to become more so on a slow track.

The pressure and presence provided by the rucks outside of the contest was pretty much non-existent, in fact there were times when Phillips looked like someone slipping on ice in slow-motion, yet he was praised for his pace.

Conditions wouldn't have helped any of the big blokes, but it read like KJ just didn't present enough and didn't make enough contests. If so, that's an effort thing.

KJ's pursuit of the man and attack on the ball is what they're talking of. He still takes a quarter off from the rolling up the sleeves and digging in, every game.

he's kane lucas in that regard.

That's pretty damning if it's the case. We gave up a pick 7 for him, you would have thought after seeing him at GWS for a year or two you would have been able to pick up his traits. I really hope it doesn't go down as a bust.

Why does anyone say we gave up pick 7 for him?

Doull and Tuck proved to be champions of the game....this is a 'long bow to draw',

..... live with aspiration until KJ or Carlton pull the pin....

bruce played only 15 senior games between debut in 69 (rd 5) to the middle of the 71 season

tuck started in the resrves in 71 and didnt become a fixture in the senior side unti 74

....who knows. i'm an optimist. balls in KJ's court....he has the goods

We gave up pick 7 and received pick 19 + Mark Whiley.
We used pick 19 on Boekhorst. GWS used pick 7 on Paul Ahern (who hasn't played a senior game yet, although broke down with an ACL in Feb so out for the year).
TBH, whilst I'd hate for Jacksh to be a bust, I don't reckon there's a heap of undeniable talent which went b/w pick 7 and our pick 19. Jake Lever and Peter Wright look promising but I don't reckon there was 12 places worth of diff in that draft b/w pick 7 and 19.
So, probably worth the punt on a KP kid with all the tools but lacking the mental edge.

Although, it would be really interesting to know whether Silvagni would have made the trade had he been at Carlton at the time... (I suspect not :yikes: )

Seems about right; of some importance is they've lost a few senior talls and brought in some lighter blokes as stop gaps in what was already a pretty light team.
