How much time is kochy spending in Adelaide?
That's just three excuse that this board uses to keep him out.
Remember they brought him and Sayer n and Sayer has no time whatsoever.

The board doesn't want fahour in because he doesn't spend s much time as say Sticks did... But... Because they say and I quote " he leaves a trail of destruction behind him everywhere he goes "...
It has more to do with where everybody sits in a Carlton according to ahmed than anything else...
They're shit scared of him... He will rock their Carlton world!
But he can't do it.. He wouldn't be allowed and no he's not supposed to be a full time dummy president
.. That's not what other clubs have either... Or should have!
A thirty hour week president...
What for?
That's a fact!
That's a ceo... Presidents job is to set the tone...

Ummm, just how do we express our anger towards the board? I can boo the players, bag the coach, but how do i get to the imbeciles on the board?

You can't!
They're not what you see..
You only see players and coaches.
That's why it's players that get traded and delisted and coaches get sacked.
But the hallmarks of really crap clubs is the rotation of players and coaches but the culture is the same and nothing seems to float.
Everything you watch drowns.

Think about it....

For all the railing against the board (right or wrong) they are not responsible for on field performance or strategies.

St Kilda's board was a mess through their Grand Final era - Butters admits he was a coke head and playing millionaire with the club. Lyon still got that team to perform.

You can't absolve Mick or the coaches (or the players) for what is being dished up. We are not a top 4 side but we are not as bad as what is being dished up. The tackling numbers are indicative of effort but the structures are atrocious.

Fair enough that we would have on field problems in MM's first year. This is his third. He has turned over about 60% of the list in that time and we have brought in about 12 mature aged players in that time (including Boekhurst, Fields and Foster, none of whom were 18).

Mick was coaching this year for a new contract. Self preservation first. The players smell it and the club has imploded.

Lol

If you don't understand leadership forget it!
Butters crapped on what we have now... And had before now..
They might have self destructed in the end but you can't say butters didn't cut edge at the time.
Besides they didn't win anything

This is a seriously real issue.......my nephew was born in 2004 and
I signed him up as a member thinking at this stage of his life the tough
times would be over.

Just like with NBH, he's asked a few times about switching to Hawthorn,
Up until last week I would tell him things will be better soon.

Last week I said change teams if you want mate.

Luckily my son is only 4 (almost). So I just tell him "Carlton won
again today buddy". Keeps him happy.......for now.

Brest thing to do is tell your kid the truth.
There's an add on TV about kids mimicking parents.
You don't want your kid to be ab depressed liar.
Basically if your kid is going to love the footy club it will.. Children will end up making their own mind up..

I didn't renew my membership at the end of last year. 33 years and I let it go.
I've been to four games in five years, the conduct of the club on and off the field was infuriating.
The self entitlement, arrogance, ignorance and blatant disregard was ridiculous.
I sent a letter to the head of membership to explain my decision and got a call telling me things would be different this year yadda yadda yadda.

I now give the $100 a month I usually spent on the membership to a community group who are doing good things with the money and are grateful for every single cent.

The Carlton I grew up worshipping is dead - it was destroyed by egos and arrogance and spoilt little boys.

For what it's worth I think a new coach asap would help us. But I agree with much of the commentary here that a new board is vital for our long term success and survival.

The GWS half time score was bigger than our full time score. The loss of Jamison, Henderson Kreuzer and Waite has impacted us severely. Quite impressed with Wood though. He's not bad as it turns out.

Same, changing of coach as long as it's through a proper process will breath life into everything.

Not necessarily sure we replace malti now with next years coach as we need to spend time on this process, and I think over the summer would be best to work on a new game plan, vision, head issues etc

We need to get rid of him now, and appoint a caretaker I feel. Maybe laidley just for NOW.

Wouldn't Bomber be the ideal caretaker? Any longer than 6 months and his mental and personality disorders take over.

I don't want to make any excuses for the players (also I did not and will not watch a single minute of that game)

What organisation has ever succeeded when their management has declared that:

- There is no guarantee that the coach (manager) will be around next year and the coach (manager) has used
the emotional state of his/her own family to pressure the club (company) into a contract extension.

- The players (workers) are publicy told that no job is safe and vast changes are imminent at the end of the year.

- The club (company) declares publicly that they are rebuilding (expecting to not hit targets) when they are 10% of the
way through a season (project).

@#$% me!

I'd be hitting seek.com immediately! (or hanging around expecting a redundancy payout)

This is the best post so far.

Never quite understood this whole idea that you are obliged to support the team your father supported. My old man is a fan (albeit one with only a slight passing interest) of St Kilda and Manchester United. I chose Carlton as a 4-year-old because I loved Lygon St, and Liverpool because I was born there. I idolise my dad and hate Man U with the passion of a thousand suicide bombers.

As a child I used to cry and rage and rant to my father when Carlton [REDACTED] up (I was fortunate that this was in the '80s when a year out of the five was our measure of dismal failure), but the thought of switching allegiances would never have occurred in a million years. If your kid is asking to switch teams then he was probably never into Carlton in the first place and was just doing as he's told - "if you love him, let him go".
