Is there any chance at all that Watto can be retrained as a KPF? (I know he's slow and doesnt like the contested stuff, but he gets 3 chances inside 50 and I reckon he'll kick 2.

Just because a guy is a long kick and will always make the distance from anywhere 50 or in doesn't mean they will kick it. Think Roccas, Cloke, Hawkins. I remember one game (wish I remember the opponent) where he missed a set shot from about 20 on a very slight angle, despite the fact he can kick them from outside 50 on the run.

Jessie White.

I suspected he could play why couldn't CFC?

Pretty good game tonight for Eddy's lot.

I know one game and all that but just saying.

I think he nominated Collingwood Moaty.

I would have liked him here also, a mate of mine of mad swans, and he rates him. would have been a great fit I think

..I agree, but with cloke there they may think one or two more pieces and they can push back up.. ..i'm not so sure, he will help them some yes but not enough.. ..I don't think they can get back to being a regular flag contender with this current group..

I think with all those good kids they've picked up lately they'll unfortunately push back up in the next couple of years.

I'm not going to bother with who we could trade, delist, just what needs to change in terms of the list and who should be moved on ASAP, and who should be moved if they can't show marked improvement in certain areas.

Definitely move on:

Ellard - foot soldier who has had enough time and doesn't meet AFL standard
White - foot soldier who has had enough time and doesn't meet AFL standard
Duigan - retired

Cachia (r)
Scotland (r) - will retire but will probably see out the year with more than a few matches under his belt and rightfully so

Deliver ultimatums to:

Watson - improve endurance base and contested marking

Warnock - improve endurance base and contested marking, improve tactical awareness at clearances

Murphy - improve attitude and speed of decision making; re-discover the knock on and how to commit to being forward of the contest without over-committing to it.

Gibbs - improve attitude and take charge of the situation with composure rather than just bluster

Walker - improve attitude and game sense, with particular respect to willingness to shepherd instead of chasing the handball receive

Bootsma - improve strength and conditioning

Garlett - improve attitude and work rate, particularly with regard to link up play

Carrazzo - improve defensive work rate outside of the stoppage

Robinson - improve disposal by foot and decision making when in possession

Waite - improve leading patterns, dummy leads and set shot technique

Casboult - improve lead timing to create better separation, set shot technique, leading patterns and dummy leads

Rowe - improve lead timing to create better separation, set shot technique, leading patterns and dummy leads

nuke the list & start again.

last 2 drafts + hendo are untouchable. anyone else put on table & see who bites. won't be much considering the quality but we need all the picks we can get.

Mick wanted to trade Kruezer for Tom Boyd last year to GWS but the board voted against it. They voted against it fearing they would be embarrassed as they have been with the Kennedy / Judd trade.

We need to start planning for the future NOW!

Kids need games. We need to assess WHOLE list to see who can handle AFL and who can't.

These guys should stay and the our "NEW" list built around them:

Judd (We need the experience and leadership)
Murphy
Henderson
Simpson
Docherty
Cripps
Graham
Walker
Menzel
Buckley
Temay
McInnes
Bell
Tuohy
Giles

The rest should be delisted or traded to get as many picks inside Top 30 as we can. We should be bringing in a MINIMUM of 8-10 good young players each year for the next two years.

NO big money long term deals unless they are for a YOUNG GUN like Boyd, Cameron, Hogan etc.

The other thing I would look at is a leader. I don't know who but if we could find someone in the Selwood mold it would benefit us greatly. Should be a key characteristic in our drafting as well along with KICKING.

Also, get rid of McKay, bring in a top List Manager and make sure we don't do anymore stupid contracts that stuff up our ability to go and recruit gun kids.

and PLEASE revamp our whole recruiting team and process. NOW

Buckley has just about become our first picked. After 4 afl games. This tells everyone where our list is at. We wouldn't win the reggies with this team.

From memory we still have lots of players coming out of contract this year;
Menzel, Gibbs, Judd, Buckley, Robbo, Yarran, McLean, Rowe, Temay, Bell (?), Scotland, Waite, Graham, Duigan, Curnow, Garlett, Jamo, Casboult, White, Ellard.
Plus some rookies, this leaves about half the list out of contract. Some of these will retire, others will be delisted but we dont want to get in the same position as Brisbane were last year and have a player exodus. Other clubs will be circling our list, and i know we have to make changes but there are some good players on the above list that the club wouldnt want to lose.

Everyone's on trade table except:
Kids from last two drafts
Simmo
Hendo

Everyone else go at the right price.

Need to have 4 selections in the top 30 in the upcoming draft.

Look towards GWS & Giants for KPP not getting what they're worth. Might need to pay overs to get a young kid to a team rebuilding but if the kid is 24 or under and has potential a risk needs to be taken.

Seems we've signed Walks, Murph, etc. they can leave for no return.

I see where you're coming from Hibbo but I think we have too many contracts in place.
Can make some room in cap by letting FAs go...but most of the crap are locked in, some with " Rolls Royce" contracts...as Mathieson would say.

We are stuck in shit and stuck with this shit.

We will be fighting out spoon with Brisbane...there's pick 1 or 2 for a start.
