Terrible draw for Melbourne based families.

Only 3 day games and 3 twilight games in Melbourne of which 2 are on Sunday.

Of our 11 night games in Melbourne - 1 Thursday, 5 Friday, 1 Saturday, 3 Sunday and 1 Monday

8 games at the MCG and 9 games at Etihad.

I do like our start ti the season and we could be in a good position by R7 and have something tobuild on.

My thoughts exactly in relation to getting families to the game....I've signed up for a long distance 5 membership next year and I'm struggling to find 5 games to take the family to

I've not looked too closely at it yet but it's not going to be easy to find games to get along to.

Its now fully obvious that the AFL has become similar to the NFL in that its now unashamedly at Made for TV game.

Agree with Dom.
13 night games and 4 twilight games - clearly showing the impact of the broadcasters on the fixture.

Which means Carlton is a sought-after brand for marketing the evening/night matches.

That's a good thing.

Interesting that the Monday night game is a foxtel game. I thought this was for TV viewing.

The Western Bulldogs appear to have been dealt a decent hand for 2014. It is the only team which doesn't play a single member of this year's top six, and three of its road trips are against GWS or the Suns.

So, do the Dogs play six games less than everyone else?

I don't feel daunted at all about playing the Pies, Cats, Port and the Scum twice.
Reckon the Cats wont be what they used to without a lot of their veterans. we always run them close anyhow.
Not impossible by any means.
Should ve beaten the Scum twice this year if it wasn't for our inaccuracy. They ll be infracted anyway.
Beat Port twice. Reckon they ll have 2nd year blues being the hunted instead of the hunter.
A few injuries and the Pies depth might be tested now that a lot of their Premiership stars are gone.
Even when they were virtually at full strength in Rnd 2, we were ahead most of the day and should ve beaten them. Gettable.

Some good footy in that lot. If we can't finish top 8 MINIMUM next year with that games list, then pack up shop boys it's gonna be a long time until we turn a profit.

Trouble is other clubs pushing for top 8 spots have received easier draws than us-North for one, Adelaide has another easy draw and the Bulldogs the easiest of all.
We have around 7-8 times when we will have 6 day breaks, Buttifant is going to earn his money.

14 wins is the pass mark.

We shouldn't need an easy draw to be great. We should be able to beat anyone and everyone. Freo in Freo and Sydney in Sydney look like the toughest tests. Everyone else is gettable.

Yep, agreed. 14 looks like par to me. Hopefully we're smart with our man management in the last 8 weeks of the year.

Having said that - $4+ for Richmond and North to make top 4? Am getting on that. Figure it's $evens for one of them to make it

68 years was a great run! Can see why you're doing it.

No need to cancel. Scaling back to a lower level, perhaps?

Maintain support for the club, albeit at a lower level financially.

I'm not going to criticise those who choose not to renew. Everyone will have any number of valid reasons for their choices.
