Cap was close full. Las t minute change to Judd/Visy deal nearly brought us over.
Dud players were contracted, and no one wanted to go near them during trade week.
There were list management decisions that were made before he was signed.
What did you expect Mick to do ? Bring in Clinton Young or the Q Stick ? That wouldn't have made any difference.
Yes, yes you've said it plenty of times.
Yet we offered Cloke a million dollars. Go figure.
3 guys were going to be traded for that.. and swann and mackay would have handled that...
so i ask u....
is this the sign of a well run club with mick !@#$%& everything up... or is it just !@#$%&!!!
if the whole club is !@#$%&.. why we blaming mick who just got here...???
No, that's all I wanted.
Acknowledgement that trades and significant list changes were possible. Instead people are telling me "our hands were tied" which is obviously nonsense.
If we had the capacity to free up 1 million dollars, we had the capacity to alter the list however we wanted. Including cutting the deadwood out.
We just chose not to.
Personally, I thought our list was good enough to be a top 8 side easily but I was sucked in. Going by Micks comments, I believe he thought the same yet everyone is telling me otherwise.
So yes, I hold the club in contempt for not doing so. All of them, including Mick if he knew the list was shot.
I know you tell me he left it to McKay, I've spoken to several of Micks ex assistants and I can tell you, thats not his style. Mick manages and controls everything.
That doesnt absolve McKay, Swann, Kernahan, any of them. They allowed the situation to exist. If anything, they're more culpable.
It further highlights the fact an independent review is imperative. No person, no position, no action should be excempt.
Unfortunately the successful organisations are heading one direction and we're going the other way. What's worse, we're actually aware of it and the incumbents are too protective of their positions to speak up for change.
Once people are putting their own interests before the clubs, its a downward spiral from there.
