This kid is a 10 year CHB and a damn good one.
Intercept marks, great spoiler, tough as nails. He just keeps getting better.

Simmo too had a ripper and is improving every week

i agree!
but some muppet Carlton supporter called SEN late lat night and said we needed to trade him. gotta wonder sometimes what people see when they watch a game of football :screwy:

He has been superb.

Unfortunately for us he's also our best big forward and the only way he'll find himself in the forwardline is to play poorly as a defender.

Seems a good young man as well.

Captain material?

One thing about wet weather footy that should be noted

The torpedo when done properly is a very effective kick in those conditions because it loses little distance and if it bounces can travel 90 metres. Drop punts lose distance in the wet far more. In the first quarter how many times were we 50 55metres out and used drop punts that landed 15 metres and were easily swept away by the Swans defenders.

The game has become so sanitised that the torp is seen as too risky to use. If our players practiced it at training we could have had players making the distance from the 50 m ark.

One of our players - Jamison? - did torp it from a kick-in, and got it all the way to the centre circle. Definitely worth a punt (punt intended - there, I did it again) at the SCG in particular.

Yeah nice try. I saw MM coaching specifically about wet weather football and guess what? The team played a shitload better after that.

Mick is an excellent coach. Now he just needs the right playing group. It will come.

The fact that he needed to school these duds on how to play wet weather footy is an indictment on our list

The fact he didn't school them pre game is an indictment on him

So for a 'calculator allowed' maths exam set by the Curriculum authorities that the class have known about all year, little Johnny can't work out until an hour into the exam why he can't solve any problems. Mr Smith, his maths teacher asks, "Little Johnny, have you been using your calculator?"

"Oh right", exclaims little Johnny. "If it's a calculator based exam, I'm allowed to use a calculator....thanks for the advice sir"

Unfortunately, little Johnny fails the exam

Thank god for Wallabies tonight, last night was utter shit.

Same people go missing every week.

Garlett was pathetic - his effort was crap. Drop him.

And then there's Waite - how can Tippett have an impact in the wet yet Waite is useless, but he is generally only good every month and shit or suspended the rest - story of his career.

Henderson was BOG and saved us for a 1/2.

Go Wallabies, I am enjoying union more than Carlton lately

Bell has no tank... in these conditions he would be cooked in 40 minutes...

Never a truer post posted. As disappointing as it is and hard to accept it's spot on. Finals should be a bonus. Lets get a list manager and sort this mess out.

True but Sydney are so well drilled and coached they were already set up for it (better than we were, and we should have known that it was coming) and they had it well covered.

he was.... at primary school...when he was 62 kilos.... no way is he an elite runner now...plus would have been more kicks to their defenders.

We had a lot of players who get knocked off the ball too easily.

They played us on the break in the first quarter and we copped it.

Probably our cleanest below the knees was Kruezer.

Betts ... insipid. I am still amazed how he didn't play in the magoos during the bye.

Lost to a weakened swans team with 5 first year players. Longmire had the audacity to bring in a first gamer against us! Obviously doesn't rate us, NO FEAR against the blues. Bugger it we are not much chop. A mediocre team who will struggle to win enough games to sneak into the top 8.

So it's time to bring in the aggressive types and go down swinging. AJ, Davies, Duigan etc come on down and just maybe let the opposition hesitate a little.

Clubs seriously consider us a soft team....it shows!

Further on this it may be time to further roll the dice & throw in Buckley (his Reserves performances notwithstanding) If he has the same cohunas as his old man he may provide a contest which sadly Garlett is not providing.

Mendel is another we should persevere with.

While deep down I know this is likely to be the case, I can't help wanting to win every single week. Desperately. Especially on the back of the disaster of last year. Every loss cuts me up.

Another 'lost' year coming up. Then the awful realisation we are going nowhere fast and #17 is another decade or more away.

well, I was grumpy last nite,
but..I believe I meant...it's not ground breaking that MM showed our boys how to kick in the wet.
I can see some improvement..not being stubborn about this.
also can see some player who seem to be shining less, or not allowed/feel a bit quashed? under MM.
I know it's teething pains. (God I hope it is.)
Anyway..
credit to..
hendo..what a star.
simmo..gallant and brave in the wet. (will pay TM infringement fine)
gibbs..was as tough as you'd ever wish him to be.

are we just a few hacks dropped away from great success?
will it take til after next draft?
can we make the 8, and keep improving?
right now, I just want us to win again.
starting next fri. nite.
come back Carrots!!!!!
don't care how slow some say he is..
I'd prefer Laidler for White any day
and...
ditto Bell, for whoever they have to take out.
