Vickery's karate kick too. Thought it would at least be looked at.

we're not averse to debuting newcomers against the filth going by history - maybe Bucks a chance ?

Those rumours about Hampson and Betts certainly gaining momentum! Appendectomy usually means a few weeks of doing not much at all, not good if true.

yeah give it to me... and ill give it right back... i promise.....im not kidding..!!!..

People here excited about a 7 season ruckman... who cant ruck yet... didnt capitalise on the score board. as a forward...made some crucial errors AGAIN!!...and laid not one tackle in a game of footy.....

Were all allowed to see things differently.. but for me to feel encouraged he has to do alot better than that...!!!

Who are you going to promote to take his spot? Within a season you have to judge a player on who he is competing against. Between seasons is the time to judge players against others in the competition. Unfortunately a guy who takes 8 marks in the forward line but can't do the basics, like kicking, is the best we have.

Ive already outlined how i would structure and why....

oit my fault you are not following,,,,

Hampson is not a ruckman who can earn his bread and butter as a bone fide ruckman yet... and he has less of a chance of being a fair dinkum forward.

Sorry dozed off. If warnock is your solution. He has been smashed all preseason in the VFL. No point discussing it further... you really think malthouse would drop hampson after last week???? So you are just playing keyboard coach going on with the 'theory'

I think I have come to a startling revelation about our team - it isn't very good. It's going to now take me an awful lot to convince me otherwise.

Other than a couple of minor finals, we haven't played any real important games since 2000.

We just need to get the fine tuning right... player wise and the way we are playing....
We will be ok...

I think the team is ok.... if we begin with the right players and ask them to play to their strengths.
Hampsons strength is NOT a key foward... if it is.... God help Hampson

Just getting back to the whole Warnock/Hammer/Kreuzer thinggy.

Warnock is a better ruckman than Hammer and Kreuzer
Kreuze is a better all round player than Hammer and Warnock

So logic says...... Hampson should be learning to play the only position he has a chance of making his own... Thats not a forward

Correct and even still... HAmpson has hardly fired a shot....asking him to star as a key forward is a bit rich...

Its all about actually understanding the basics.

202 cm players have never been able to hold down key forward possies when they cant impose themselves on a game at any level period.!

Were just setting him up for a huge blow!!!..and then he will be scapegoated again...

Its ludicruous!!!

So we must be a monty to make the top 4 this year.....

It doesnt make us a monty but we should have high expectations.
The reality is we made the finals 3 years in a row with a very young list. Nothings changed. If anything, our young players should be improving.
Yet some fools here look at the tea leaves and suddenly we're an average list. Based on what? Missing the finals last year with a horrendous injury list.

Mind boggling.

We need to look at Fremantle though BV.

They made a prelim final in 2006 and haven't been back since. That makes it impossible for us to do so this soon after 2011.

I have no idea if the rumours are true that Hammer, Betts & Gibbs will miss this week - but I'll assume the worst case scenerio for the purposes of this (and I'll also assume that we play it safe with Robbo's concussion)....

Walker Jamo Duigan
Bootsma Hendo Tuohy
Lucas Judd Armfield
Simmo Rowe Murphy
Yarran Casboult Garlett

Kreuzer Carrazzo Bell

Inter: AJ, Brock, White
Sub: Buckley

In: Bell, Buckley, Rowe, White
Out: Betts (inj), Gibbs (inj), Hammer (ill), Robbo (inj)

Very hard to see us beating the Pies this week, but particularly without Betts, Gibbs & Robbo.

I don't see Buckley playing a role in the seniors in 2013 other than the occasional cameo as sub, and he may get that chance in Round 2 if Betts is out. Bucks is very small and I am concerned for his welfare (he throws himself in recklessly at times) - he already has a dodgy shoulder - but perhaps playing him early in the year isn't a bad thing. Throwing him in against the Filth at the 'G in front of 90,000 isn't something I feel entirely comfortable with, but with our 'outs' we might need his pace. Sometimes playing a debutant can give the side (and the supporters) a little bit of a lift too. The only other debutant I'd consider this week is Temay - he looks a likely type to me. I wouldn't play both Buckley and Temay at this stage. I'd go with Buckley just because he's got that extra 12 months in the system under his belt.

Curnow or Davies could potentially come in for AJ, depending on match ups. Neither set the world on fire in the VFL last week, so all things being equal I reckon AJ might get another go. If Ellard is fit, perhaps he might even come straight in (although you'd expect him to be too underdone)?

Laidler didn't look right to me on Saturday at Cramer St. I reckon MM will give Duigan one more chance (at least).

I thought long and hard about bringing in Warnock but I decided to go with Rowe & White - both can play at either end (+ Rowe can share the 2nd ruck duties with Casboult and White can play on mediums and talls in defence). I really get the impression that MM doesn't like one position players, so I reckon Warnock is going to be made to really work for a spot in the seniors early in the season. Particularly while our KP spots are so unsettled. Not that I necessarily agree with it.

What is mind boggling about having an opinion? I don't rate us as highly as you do BV. That's all.

Believe me when I tell you that it eats me up that we're not (in my opinion) better placed in 2013 to make a serious challenge for the flag.

Thats not true... hes on the park.
Were going for the super athletic 'Heimy' ... cos he shows potential... and people think he will be a key forward...... he has a better chance as a ruckman cum frward..not as a forward cum ruckman

Anyway... one thing i notice about Geelong is their midfield is super great!Theyre stars!!.. and the mids set up the side

Agreed, need to sift through some crap on our list first. I feel the side doesn't have enough/any mongrel and weaknesses in KPP and a one way midfield.

I've wanted to believe different but I see other sides play and I can think of 9-10 sides who would confidently think they're better than us.

We should be aiming at the flag.... but geeez some sides have made alot of ground while we have been happy with one eliminational final win.
Geelong look like theyre back in the hunt for flags after winning 3 in 6.
They also lost the best player in the comp... and also couldnt fit Mummy in a couple of years ago.
Vardy and Menzel arent in the side.... injured.. 2 very good young players...
They lose a few last season..gain a couple in trades and draft... and draft the right players.
Then theyre just back in the hunt....
Just great drafting and developing.

We are a hotpotch!
