IMHO Armfield does some good things but doesn't really influence games and his disposal is average especially under pressure. He is a bit part player. The question is as we develop our list is he worth keeping or is it better bringing in a kid?

Armfield was fantastic today and last week.

Another top comment.

The good news is Roy agrees with you.

Talk of not retaining players because 'they're not in our next premiership team' is silly. We may not win a premiership for 20 years. Its impossible to say who's going to play.

Your reading it wrong. Can you see them being part of a premiership team?

If we are going to win one in the next 1-5 years would he be in it or do we need to replace him/them with better plays to win the flag?

This is what list management is about.

I still its too difficult to say which players could be part of a premiership team.

Armfield provides a lot that his teammates don't. Still makes some basic errors, but his disposal has come a long way. He's a good kick for goal now.

His run and speed, running lines and chasing more than make up for the errors he makes.

armfield is the least of our problems. does a good job most weeks. we have number 1 picks who turn the ball over and make stupid mistakes, should we delist them?

today he limited jettas influence got a bit of the ball himself and kicked 2 goals. last week he had a similar game v newman. funnily enough he is = 4th in our goal kicking.

talk of delisting is ludicrous

Exactly. Talk of limited impact is ridiculous when you consider the defensive roles he's done and the goals he's contributed this year.

Yes, it's interesting. I made a list of players I believe we should get rid of because I believe we are carrying deadwood and need to fill some holes in our list.

Of the 9-10 I listed we seem to have focused on Armfield. The odds are he will stay so it's a mute point and if he plays in the next premiership side I will ge as happy as the next person.

My original point is that I believe we have a lot of talent on our list and just need to fill some holes and as such we will need to get rid of some players.

IMO to compete for top 4 we need to add some class and depth via free agency, trade and drafting and this year is vital.

Our list is not so talented we could afford to lose this bloke.

How about we lose some of the blokes not going well Hmmmmmmm?

Cimm1979. Name one player on the list who has improved on 2011.

I will give you 3 Henderson, Touhy & Mclean.

Everyone else has either stagnated or gone backwards.

I agree Watson and McInnes have improved in terms of the games they have played this year.

In terms of output. Both have given little.

Or been injured, mostly injured.

But King Kenny has listed a few for me.

But we are talking about Armfield aren't we.

That's two weeks in a row he's cooked you.

Wouldn't be because he's a first year player by chance? ;-)

Army has improved, can't say that about his field kicking though

He had a few very obvious poor disposals in a couple of games, but apart from that he's been good all year.

Perception is a funny thing, people are still focusing on a weakness from his first couple of years.

Some still rely on him being tackled by Trent Dennis-Lane for an argument.

He's been a godsend in terms of endeavour.

Army has been great this year. Clear improver and found his position as defensive Half forward

Good on him playing well as a HFF given his limitations.

What's going to happen with Lucas? Is he just waiting for a new coach? Terribly disappointing given who was drafted after him.

Personally I'd get rid of Curnow, AJ, McLean, Bower, Russell, Armfield, Kerr, Carter, Heyne and hopefully replace with 1-2 very good free agents, some good trades and some bloody good kids.

but keep Davies? :screwy:

Davies is a talented kid who has been rushed into senior footy with a limited preparation and virtually no footy this year. He has struggled in the last two games but he is better than that.

All I see with Davies is a player who fumlbes, makes poor decisions, gives away a lot of careless frees and isn't a great enough accumulator or kick of the footy to make up for his shortcomings. I though these were the same things he showed at u18, with the plusses being he likes to run, is a good pace without being express and has a good attack on the footy. I personally don't think he is AFL standard and I serioulsy doubt that he ever will be. I would delist him and give someone else a go ... i don't think anyone we draft would play a worse 15 games that Davies has over his time at Carlton.

I see nothing in Davies, sorry... hope he proves me wrong but, meh

McLean deserves a contract extension before Curnow... great first 6 games but gone backwards at lightspeed
