I'm a critic of Ratt's recently but two weeks ago he said that he was going to play blokes who probably were not ready for the big time, but he was going to play them anyway.

Last week it was Bootsma and Collins, this week Watson.

That's not gutless that's following your convictions.

The big test is if he brings in anyone new and or keeps Bootsma et al for the Geelong and WCE clashes.

Clearly Lucas is not doing what's expected of him, otherwise he'd be way ahead of a few others.

Similar personalities that is for sure.

Grigg was probably a better player at this stage of his career.

Lucas needs to go back to the ressies and work on his form and fitness because we know as well as he does he is not in the best touch at the moment.

Once he finds form i am sure the match committee will inject him back into the seniors. Nice burst of energy towards the end of the season.

Hope he has the steel to work through his rough patch and deliver the goods.

That's bullshit.

Lucas works hard at training whilst Grigg looked at how he'd get home early.

Don't see it myself Club.

I reckon Lucas is twice the footballer Grigg was, he just needs to make up his mind to impose himself on the game. He's looking mighty tentative in anything remotely resembling a contest.

I hope Watson plays a blinder and sticks it up em!

Imagine him and Bootsma playing together in the backline - the changing of the guard....or the adding to the guard....

Hope Buckley and Lucas play blinders for the VFL... And any other kids on the list - we need depth.

Here,Here.................I actually like Watson even though he aint shooting the lights out in the VFL.A kid that big with his thumping left boot shouldnt be dismissed so early.Dont think his pace is his problem,i think its his agility that can be improved.First thing i would be doing is chucking him a skipping rope and tell him to get to work. There is nothing in the world better than a skipping rope to improve a big ungainly types agility.Would do wonders for the kid.

We have been extremely poor for a month yet guys like Curnow, AJ, Armfield have been average for a long while.

We have kids like Dale, Buckley, Lucas, Collins who can do just as well and are the future. I have real concerns about how we are developing Lucas.

Actually surprised (and relieved) Russell hasn't been picked.

Happy Watson has been brought in. Can fill Laidlers role but must be given a fair go.

Watson might fill whoever our CHF's role has been. Going by the 3/4 time interview last week Ratts wasn't happy with the way the ball was coming out of our 50 and he put it down to the 2 big rucks up forward.

The other 3 have bigger bodies for contested situations although not sure I'd play them all either. Certainly play Armfield though.

He may well do but if he keeps playing in the 2nds he will seek opportunties elsewhere

I reckon Armfield has been pretty decent this year. AJ has been in and out of the side because of questionable form, but even given his form he brings much needed hardness and aggression to the side- a recent criticism of team. Curnow is on shaky ground.

Happy enough to see Watto given a crack. Hopefully he shows something

Very dissapointed in Lucas being dropped. Very hard to just come and and shoot the lights out as the sub, even though he's looked tentative. But I'll say it again - more talent than Curnow and AJ combined. Maybe he needs to spend a few weeks at Leo Berry's gym next pre season, or better still a few sessions with The Weapon ?

Initially it was because we had no-one and he was at least hard at it. Now its because the cupboard is bare due to injury. Very average battler who would never get a game in a top team.

What happened to AJ seems a long way from where he was tagging out Gary Ablett. Just seems deserted in the back half where he looks uncomfortable with the ball coming at him. When he first came into the team he , at least to me, he appeared to have a real raw hunger like Robbo, now he looks either confused or significantly less motivated as a 'comfortable' professional.
Collins is unlucky in my book, Watson a bit lucky not sure AAMI size suits his pace.

Pigeon holed as a tagged/run with player instead of being developed into a ball finding nuggety mid-fielder another flowered up player development mess you have gotten us into "Olly".

He may not have been in the greatest form recently, but I remember him being by far our best shut down player when he towelled up Ablett and a couple of other big scalps when he first played as a tagger. I think he has been servicable since comming in after we lost Carrots.

Maybe in our best 22 hew would not be there but he goes alright and I wish him well.

am I missing something but how is Curnow getting a game. Runs around like a headless chook with average skills. I'm being a bit harsh but he is a definite weak link in our team. Hope he proves me wrong this week.
