This talk about West Coast having a 'soft draw' is laughable.
How would our mob fare if they had to travel to Perth 11 times a season? They beat the cats and currently deserve to be in the position they are in. They have done extremely well and have certainly not had a soft draw.
Collingwood have what i would call a 'soft draw' with the second half of the season all at the MCG, limited interstate trips etc.
To a certain extent we have had a softish draw this year, only travelling 4 times. We have no one else to blame if we do not finish top 4

Are West Coast secretly based in Victoria also?

Without looking at it wouldn't Collingwood travel more than any other Vic club (that didn't sell games) in the second half of the season? They didn't even travel until like Round 11

In all fairness, should we not make top 4 it really comes down to being EXTREMELY UNLUCKY (yes, we shouldnt have dropped a game against doggies, but still...)

If we win the rest of our games and finish with 16-5-1 its still MORE LIKELY THAN NOT that we finish 5th.

16 and a half wins would have been good enough to finish top 4 every single other year in the history of VFL/AFL (meanwhile some shitkicking team gets a knock out final like us with 10 and half wins). Someone check the stats on that but I'm pretty sure I'm right. FFS its good enough for top 2 most years IMO.

How sick is that?

Just shows how many low clubs there are at the moment. Will be even worse next year with GWS

While the loss to the Dogs was a bit of a disaster, the game that really hurt us was the West Coast game. Had we won that, we would now be 10 points clear of WC, meaning that even if WC won all of their remaining games, we could still afford to drop one more (which I think we will) and finish 4th.

The season could vve been so much more different but for a few costly moments...
- Jeffy's play on vs the Scum
- Simmo's out of bounds in the dieing seconds of the same game
- Warnock's easy miss vs the Cats
- Our SIX posters vs the Filth (most of them getable goals)

Yep, we could've been lock-ins for 3rd. Unfortunately that's life, just some bad mistakes and judgement.
I'm already looking forward to next year, after another pre-season with the whole playing group.
Can't wait to see who we draft as well.

If we dont finish top 4 then i am looking forward to my usual interstate September ritual of watching Carlton in a interstate final!

2009 - Brisbane
2010 - Sydney
2011 - Perth

We really are going to finish 5th.

Even if we can get over the top of all of Freo in Perth, Hawks and Saints (doubtful), we still have to rely on either WCE and Hawks losing another game.

Melb to beat WCE anyone?

WCE - injuries starting to mount
Rosa - possible ACL - PCL
Butler off for scans -calf
Cox (hip) and Nic Nat (leg)- both have injury clouds over them
Kennedy (eye)???

Despite the fact that Melbourne are in disarray at the moment, normally I would say yes - if it was at the MCG like it should be.

However, for some stupid [REDACTED] up reason it is being played at Etihad and Melbourne will get smashed....

Other than that, the only chances are the Scum beating them over there (not likely, but not entirely impossible) and the Lions beating them on their dunghill (not outside the realms of possibility given their push against the Cats up there a couple of weeks back, but no Brown hurts them big time).

Only remaining opportunity is for the Hawks to drop the game against the Dogs, which aint gonna happen on current form.

I reckon we're fifth this year for sure.

Exactly. I think we will win this weekend, lose to the Hawks then the game against the saints is 50/50

We only have ourselves to blame. Losses to WCE and the Bulldogs and the draw against Essendon* really have hurt.

If we have something to play for in rd 24 we will handle the saints easily. We've got the perfect match up for Goddard and our midfield is far more damaging than theirs. They are still as slow as treacle across the ground and at the G we will run rings around them.

I am a lot less worried about that game than either of the two we play prior.

Exactly.
Rosa is more important than people give him credit for (though arguably still to realize his full potential)

And if Cox goes down, they are a totally different team.
Couple that with soreness to Natinui and Kerr, then they arent looking so unbeatable in their run home.

Hence why it bugs me when people try to shrug off "the odd bad day" because apparently it has no effect on the season as a whole.

A couple of wayward kicks, or sleepy starts, or flat-footed'ness, is all it takes sometimes. This year is the proof.
