If Kreuzer was our only ruck against the saints and was told to go out there and demolish mcEvoy I am sure that challenge would have appealed to him and he would have played a good game for the blues.
Not sure the team would have been better off than having Warnock play sole ruckman though.

We need to work it out.

While I can agree that Kreuzer looked pretty good pre-injury, I still think it's no coincidence that our centre clearances have suddenly skyrocketed now that Warnock is back in the team. My issue with Kreuzer is that even when he looks good, he's still not having a massive impact on games like Warnock does. Kreuzer looks great at ground level, and is probably close to our best tackler. But does he actually excel in the big man areas in marking contests or tap outs? And I would answer no. I think we've looked much more dangerous at clearances with Warnock in there. And I think that's been true in the past. Some of our real dominant efforts in recent years have been on the back of Warnock's work. I remember a 10 goal last quarter where Warnock was shelling them out. Never really seen that from Kreuzer. Now that would be okay, if he exerted some other kind of dominance. But tackling is not enough for a big man.

This is the most important thing. If it's true that all of Kreuz, Hammer and 206 are purely ruckman only, with no chance/potential to be used in another role, we need to make up our minds once and for all on who we go with and stick to it.

No doubt this will be one of the big list-management decisions Mick will tackle once the season is over.

Definitely trade a ruckman for a mid. Pretty obvious.

If O'Meara or Martin were offered for Kreuzer we would surely have taken it.

..both wins vs pies last season, Krooz dominated.. ..in 2011, was B.o.G vs swans.. ..3 charlie votes in tigers win opener 2012, 45 hitouts vs tigers last season in that 1-point victory in the rematch.. ..in his first two years, 3 goal match winner comeback wins for the blues vs port [away].. .... ..that's just off the top of my head.. ..the idea that Krooz isn't capable of being a match-winner, or directly influence victories is an idea i just cant get my head around..

..Knockers has been in the system for 2 years more than Krooz, has played 30 less games, and has kicked an almighty career total of 12 goals.. ... ..knockers has potential granted, but he is not the dominant ruck that ppl think he is..

Neither is Kruizer.. and furthermore Knockers didnt come at the expense of Cotchin. just getting back to dominance he was instrumental in almost getting us back in the game on Monday and instrumental in the 3 wins prior.

Krueze was the clear standout.
"Kruezer cup."
Krueze might have to lumber around the ground and take McEvoy marks. Hes athletic enough to be a good link up player who ... when in form can have small stints pushing forward and be a chop out for Warnock ...
However I think his value at the trade table would be amazing and we could get someone much more important ...

agree and do it sooner rather than later, when injury prevents him from being as mobile as he is now.

As MM said, he is a very coach-able and willing player, trade him now provided we get a first rounder and move on.

Or second tier half back flankers being midfielders or key position players... eh hem!

..but you can argue that Knockers came at the expense of Jacobs.. ..you can say that he's played 62 games, from the school of the '05 draft.. ..you can say that in a 10 goal win over the demons just last week, Robbie had 8 touches, to go with all those hitouts.. ..he had 9 touches also against wce to go with 17 hitouts.... ..he's had 2 average games to go with 2 better games..

..the notion that he's so far ahead of Krooz as primary ruck is flawed.. ..he will get a lot of hitouts, but plenty will be tapped down at his own feet.. .... ..i think they both have a case for being primary ruck, i also believe that it is by far their best positions.. ..i think we need to work out a method for them to work as a ruck combo.. ..to do this, we can't have a ruck playing as KPF [hammer]..

..and over the course of their careers, with less time,, Krooz has played more dominant games than Knockers has..

yes you could certainly argue that. at the end of the day however there is still the question of finding a place for him in the team now

..and yet there is no question.. ..the coaches obviously have him as 1st ruck, or at the very least as a Ruck.. ..he was given the first crack at the primary ruck, and rushed back into the team as well.. ..vs the taints, he was not ready, and it showed.. ..poor MC form, and for that game he didn't have a spot.. ..ridiculous rushing a ruck back from a broken thumb, and then wondering why he didn't perform as back-up ruck, and then didnt in a key position..

..he plays a different game as a ruckman than Knockers, so i can see them working as a ruck combo, with smart coaching and experience together..

exactly, in economic terms what has happened in the past is a sunk cost and not particularly relevant in making a decision on a current problem which should be decided on opportunity cost

that's a fair enough assessment. maybe with Hampson out (surely this week he'll be dropped) things may settle into place.. wait and see what happens

this guy is overrated by many on this site

he is in his sixth year of football and apart from his first year has not impressed me with his impact on games

love his desire and work ethic but as our supposed number one ruck needs to do more

his inability to take a mark is his biggest downfall, especially in clutch periods of games

Unless he proves me wrong, I would seriously consider a trade if it's for a quality big bodied midfielder or key forward

list is definitely over rated, but im not sure we are massively far away , i have a feeling Menzel and Graham are going to be good (fingers crossed) but its those that we ve been relying on to come through during the Judd era that has held us back, Watson, KennedY, Mitchell, has hurt us badly and the lack of another QUALITY mid coming through has also been detrimental and will continue to be, but if we can make this years off season a worthy one it may change the situation, but to do that need to accept that quite a few are going to be let go like about 8.
