Quote:
A CARLTON official faces AFL fines following complaints that he approached, and insulted, umpires in the aftermath of the Blues' 29-point loss to North Melbourne last Friday night.

AFL football operations boss Adrian Anderson confirmed to The Age last night that the Blues had been advised to provide an explanation for incidents alleged to have taken place as players, umpires and officials left the field at Etihad Stadium after Carlton's upset loss.

It is understood two complaints concern a Carlton property steward who is alleged to have spat chewing gum and unleashed a verbal barrage on the umpires - who included two of the AFL's most experienced officiators in Hayden Kennedy and Scott McLaren - at the end of the game.

I hope the club pays the guys fine. I also hope we did complain to the AFL about the umpiring.

Given the quality of the umpiring I'm surprised all he did was hock a loogie.

What we should have done, was come out on the front foot when Harvey made the remarks pre-game about our tactics and served it back. What we did, which is what we always do is keep quite and therefore allow the umpires to believe that the Kangaroos where correct about us. The fact that they not only got the umpires onside mentally  and then got us sucked in :hitcomputer: was where this game was lost. :banghead:
