Looks like a massive crowd expected for this game. Wouldn't surprise me if this game becomes a yearly fixture, with North getting a home game with the Friday night timeslot against a high drawing team in Carlton. I'd say this game will be one of the very few that North won't have to write a cheque...the revenue for them will make a push to keep this game locked in each year. Getting a bit nervous, although I have liked the way things have gone this week. All the media has been around North Melbourne and hardly any for us. You could say the pressure for North is quite big, as they'll be fighting to put on a good show and get a good result in order to be considered for more Friday night games in the future. Short term though, the pressure is on us...lose this and it could affect our run towards the finals. David Hale looks set to miss which is a bonus for us. Drew Petrie out helps our cause also. They have tended to play a very tall forward line against us over the last few years, Hale and Petrie and occasionally Macintosh. Damning stat that we've only beaten them once out of the last seven times...our worst streak had been equalled last time we lost to them; 6 games from Round one 2005 to Round 20 2008...equal to that of Round 14 1996 to the GF 1999. Our last win against them wasn't at all convincing, I think we were a bit lucky in the end that they piled on 8 behinds in the last quarter instead of 8 goals. As we move up the ladder to becoming a top four team and eventually a genuine premiership contender, we really need to shake some of these bogey sides. North has been a bogey side for years, but it also goes for the likes of Essendon* and Hawthorn. A win on Friday night will go a long way with me.
