Mc.Veigh for Waitey is fair dontcha think?
it will be a bit more even if Mc.Veigh is out.
Not that i'm saying he's a patch on Waitey...or that we wouldn't clobber 'em with him in.

I find it extremely interesting that the Bombers have already accepted McVeigh's suspension, they didn't have to until tomorrow. Definitely a bit of mind games in action there, just like when we announced early that Judd would miss the Richmond game last year (it worked then too). Sounds to me like they are trying to get us to go into the game a bit complacent. We are at real risk of starting a bit slow because of the week off, hopefully we don't get suckered into it. But our level of stupidity when we have played the flowers recently can't be underestimated.

We simply must win this match, there is no other option. Forget about the Brisbane game, this is the real 8 pointer. McVeigh in or out shouldn't make any difference.

Just a thought I had today re-reading this thread - how much of the tactical superiority they've enjoyed is because Campo knows how Ratts thinks in certain situations? I wouldn't mind betting that those who played with him would have an fairly good inkling about what he expects to happen.... I know from a Rugby sense, I've had some of my finest moments coaching against guys I used to play with becaues I know how they take the game on.....

Perhaps Ratts should sit out this week's game and let one of the assistants plan and coach on match day.

Interesting games when we play the scum. Usually pretty close and the favourite usually loses. I reckon we would start favourites in this one although not so highly fancied as the earlier match this year.

We need to be mentally prepared for this one more than anything else.

Each game from here on in is a mini final for us and there is no better way to kick off our finals campaign than against Essendon*.

Should be a great match. Wish I could be there. Enjoy you lucky flowers...

They were talking about Watson, Davey, Lloyd, Monfries but mostly Lovett. It amazes me that they think their team is so much greater then ours. I would've thought that it was pretty clear that even with us being a bit down for the last month that we're clearly building towards our next premiership faster then them.

I expect Winderlich, Welsh, Reimers, Dempsey, Dyson, Prismall, Hooker and hopefully McVeigh to regularly break the game open. With their very one dimensional forward line it should free up McPhee to do some damage up forward. If McVeigh plays then combined with Welsh and Watson we will at least break even with the clearances and we'll always murder them out in open territory. Hopefully Pears plays a blinder on Fevola.

Once Hille is back and add Hurley and Gumby to our team we'll beat these tankers with regularity. They just don't realise how badly their spine lacks.

I'd also like to mention that Lonergan had a cracker last week and could really be a force on Friday as well.

I don't think I've wanted to win a game this badly in years.

I've been copping shit from Essendon* wankers all week, they think they have it in the bag already.

Caro on FC last night reckoned that Carlton are being quiet in the media this week after pumping up our 'fab four' backfired last time against Essendon*.

James Hird wrote that article you ridiculous woman.

Our mental approach to this game is going to be a lot different to last time. Ultimately we will need to put them away and the longer they stay in the game the harder it will be for us to put them away. We need to make the most of opportunies particularly early to win the battle of the mind. The challenge for the lads will be to display and sustain the same intensity and ferocity as they did against StKilda. We have struggled to do this against the teams that are thereabouts and basically relied on our own ability to get us through.
At this stage our own ability will ensure a close game but not a win, we need more than just flashes of form from our boys on Friday night.

Essendon* has won 5 games with out McVeigh this year so he missing is not going to make a hell of a difference.

If this game becomes a shoot out we are playing into there hands. When we don't have the ball we got to be pressuring them up and forcing the turn overs, when we have the ball we need to move it quick.

Fletcher going to be a huge hurdle to cross going forward and we need to make him accountable by playing Krooze on him but we need Krooze to battle it out with Ryder.

Just throwing this one up that a surprise inclusion this week could be a player like Hartlett. He can play on Fletch, keep him accountable and with two weeks t prepare for this game the MC could be planning his involvement in the game. T-bird could play forward on a Fletch

If Fev is wearing his kicking boots this week it'll help our cause.

I want to win, and win big.

Just purchased three tickets for the game on Friday night, did not have the memberships handy to obtain the barcode numbers so I rang the club...

For anyone out there looking to purchase tickets - all you need to tell them is your member ID or your surname and place of residence and they will give you the barcode number over the phone.

Not sure how many tickets are left though... got M31, Row X in the Ponsford stand...

Would love to see Harts playing Melvs but can't see how he would play forward giving his sojourn in the backline in the Ants for the most part of the season.

Whats the story with ticketing for this game?

Is it safe to rock up with our memberships or should we pre-buy tickets?

Here you go Gav - tickets are selling fast as it is a home game for both teams as per below. Wouldn't risk rocking up and hoping for the best.

CARLTON MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE
All 2009 Carlton Members will be admitted to this match to compensate for the round seven Carlton home game played on the Gold Coast. It is important to remember that entry to all games is subject to capacity and as a large crowd is expected to attend this round 13 match a reserved seat ticket is recommended to avoid disappointment. The following outlines the ticketing opportunities for all membership categories.

SILVER MEMBERS
Normal public general admission entitlements apply in Q sections (subject to capacity).

AWAY SEASON RESERVED SEAT HOLDERS
Members with season away reserved seats can simply scan membership as per normal match day procedure and sit in allocated AWAY seat.

CAPTAINS CLUB AND GOLD MEMBERS
The Carlton Football Club has negotiated with the MCC to secure exclusive seating for our season reserved seat and Captains Club members for this game:

Level 2 N29 to N31, Ponsford Stand will be available to the following Captains Club and Gold membership types:
- Captains Club Premium Gold Members only
If capacity is reached in these bays, members are entitled to purchase a seat in M28-M36 on level 1.
Captains Club Premium Gold members who want to sit with Captains Club Standard Gold or Football Gold (Premium or Standard) members are advised to sit in M28 – M36 on level 1.

Level 1 M28 to M36, Ponsford Stand will be available to the following Captains Club and Gold membership types:
- Football Club Premium Gold
- Football Club Standard Gold
- Captains Club Standard Gold
- Captains Club General Admission

The above Reserved Seat tickets can be purchased from Wednesday 10 June, 9am. Once you have entered your barcode number, select the desired area from the Select Seating Area drop down list. Please note, only the above membership types will be offered these areas.

He has been playing both ends right if the ground in the Bullants hasn't he?

If we can limit Fletchers impact on the game we will go a long way winning this one.

I thought he was playing most of the games down back as he has been the designated kicker for behinds. Perhaps one of the Ant watchers can confirm.

Definitely need to keep Fletch accountable and limit his rebound as he can kick the ball a good distance.
