Last time Chris Johnson played against Brissy he picked up 33 possessions and polled a brownlow vote

You wouldn't happen to know who he played on SB?

For all those wanting to drop Joseph, can you please tell me your match up for Hooper, who was close to the Lions best last week with 4 goals. Also can you tell me how Ben Cousins and Nathan Brown went against us, and who played on them. I think Joseph, or at least a Joseph type player is vital for team balance. If he is dropped I think we have to bring in Armfield or Browne for him, but I don't think Browne has the pace to go with Hooper. It's a difficult decision because I want Walker, Grigg and then Stevens back in the 22 as well, but they can't all fit. I think describing the feeling about Joseph as hype is also a little over the top, but cut him a bit of slack, it was his first senior game.

Who does he pick up when playing back then :? He was given a matchup on a bloke that he has an inch over in height, he should have the speed to follow him on a lead and be right on his klakker when the contest happens. He wasn't because he was watching the ball far more than he should have been.

Someone said that he had only 2 kicked on him, well i beg to differ. Waite called to the bench nearing 3 quarter time through physical exhaustion, he was spent. The runner went straight out to Johnson and instructed him (i assume) to follow Richo when in the forward line. Not 2 minutes later Richo marks 40 out with acres to spare. Johnson wasn't anywhere near him but ended being the man on the mark.

He's not tall enough or built enough to take the big forwards, he's not quick and agile enough to take the small forwards so that leaves the medium marking forwards. Which is exactly what Morton is.

He'd want a better defensive game this week otherwise Stevens selection in front of him will be obvious. He can be the linkman out of defense and take the kickins, he won't do anything worse defensively as what i saw on Thursday night with Johnson. To me he's more of a wingman at this stage, he needs far more awareness of where his man is if we want him to become a solid backman.

Garlett is a toughie.

Was the one player who really seemed a bit overawed and lost towards the end of the game last Thursday. But maybe he'll be better for the run?

Walker for Garlett and ask Walks to play a similar role which I think he could do.

Grigg will play this week barring injury in final training session.

9 pages and counting. Imagine how hard it must be for the match committee!!! I'll go for Joseph and Johnson for Walker and Grigg. Its a tough call on Joseph as he did do well enough to keep his spot. I watched the game again last night and I'd keep Garlett in. I liked the way he played and the opportunities he created. He didn't seem as flustered as some here have suggested. In fact he could have snared 4 goals if things went his way.

The only change i'd make is Grigg for Garlett.

I wouldn't play Walks for one more week. I'd unleash him against the bombers, a saturday night game and a big crowd and his first game back.

Do any of you think Stevo should come straight back in or have him run around with bullants for a week?

IMO, I'd run him in the Bullants for a week, as a message to say don't get reported for doing stupid stuff.

No, strongly against that type of "sending a message" rubbish ... will we then do the same to Judd and Fev? Him sitting in the stands while his teammates thumped the Tiges, being on the outside down in the rooms afterwards ... messages to burn there.

I'd do the same but it just won't happen. If Johnson isn't out this week he'll be out the week after.

Dump every player who costs the team a goal and you would have a pretty thin team I reckon!

Walker and Grigg must come in . Garlett and Russell should be the 2 to go . Johnson . . . . 1 more chance .
Stevens definately in next week . ( he is in our top 6 ) .
We need Joseph this week to play on Hooper .
This mob will be a hell of a lot harder than Richmond . I reckon we'll win , but by less than 20 points .

Probably the best decision by the match committee. If we were playing finals this week, then that would be different. But to reward good form at senior level, and give young players a decent run, and force good players to occasionally miss out, can only be good for the longterm health of our list.

Seeing as Russell played a game last week he must be in line to be dropped this week.
So..
Out: Russell
In: Anybody

spot on.

i dont think you can actually drop anyone when your team had such an even and good contribution from anyone with a win like that.

depsite who they are i hope the team doesnt change. i cant think of a single player who played that game, that didnt do what they where asked, and if you do that, then you deserve to keep your spot.

for all those saying walker/grigg/stevens should come straight in.

rubbish - and im a fan of all of them.

1. walker hasnt played a senior game in a long time, so needs to earn his spot, and he is certainly doing that from last weeks game but while the players are performing like they are, there isnt a spot for him. very unlucky.

2. stevens, needs to learn, that if he is going to silly shit, and get suspended, than we can cover him. no one to blame but himself.

3. griggs, pretty tough on grigg, done every thing right, just abit unfortunate with injury.

we are better with all three in the side, but as a developing side, we simply can not afford to drop players, after a performance like that, we have to reward effort.

gone are the days when you got a game for carlton, becuase you are the best we have.

now, all players have to deserve their spot. and that means carlton is finally in a very good situation with its depth. its the best our club has looked for a very long time.

You don't leave a winning team unchanged until they lose, you select the best possible team to ensure they continue winning.

If ANY of the 4 rookies are better than Walker or Grigg then you can safely assume i know absolutely nothing about football.

... and who says this team won't continue winning?

I would love Grigg/Walker back in the team, but you need to drop someone for that and nobody deserves to be dropped. All players put in four solid quarters last week and our rookies played speciliast roles that Grigg/Walker aren't best suited too.

The fact we have an unchanged lineup now means, players have targets to meet each week or they face being dropped. It can work two ways, we weed out those who can't handle the pressure within the club for spots, or our players continue to improve forcing normal regulars to wait for a chance.
