Wiggins = HACK

Elroy you are wrong. I have it on good authority from some of the posters here that Wiggins is the sort of player that premierships dynasty's are built on. He is great Wiggins. I thought he was a hack but I was also wrong. After his standout performance on the weekend I feel ashamed that I ever bagged the bloke. In 114 minutes he got 8 touches and turned over half of them. He is a star in the making.

See - now what was so hard about that

Molesy, you really like Wiggins, don't you?

And from reading your articles I know that you really know your stuff.

Which is how I know that you know Wiggins isn't a "required" player. You know as well as I do he is, at this stage, at least a 75%-80% chance of being delisted at the end of the season.

I will never, and have never questioned his desire or endeavour, but he is genuinely out of place at AFL level, and you and Deano and everyone else are letting your attachment to a mediocre player (and we all do that, in honesty) cloud your otherwise sound judgement.

Ditto.

Nice strategy; appeal to my ego, tell me what I know, then seek agreement....

Elroy, no I do not know that at all, nor do I feel it. That is mainly because I don't like to pick delistings and trades and bag players out. It is also because Wiggins has had a good month of footy; starting with the Port game which was one of his best. Having been a poor defender as a teen footballer, I appreciate how hard it is to be a defender. You cannot judge a defensive player by how many stats he gets, its best to judge them by the impact their opponent has. In this respect Wiggins had a good game on the weekend, its as simple as that. This is not to say that he wont be traded, I cant see a delisting, after all we do have a lot of tryers at the moment and Pagan may trade some away to get some more skill on the list, but I really can't see it given where our list is.

Contrary to rumours, I am not related to Wiggins notwithstanding our joint Tasmanian heritage!

Wiggins has taught us all how to love, and how to be loved.

He will be remembered as the greatest Australian who ever lived.

Well Wiggo has gone from 100% chance to now a 75-80% chance to be delisted you know your stuff Elroy!
Once again Elroy if he is contacted for next year he will not be delisted!

Well done to Wiggo for keeping the best small forward in the AFL in Brown to 1 goal for 2 and 1/2 quarters!

This debate shows how sad our great club's position is right now.

Elroy is right in that WIggins is really just a good reserves player and has nowehere near enough talent to be an AFL standard contributor.

But the sad thing is that we have SO MANY DUDS worse than him and therefore he is a good chance to play in 2006.

Credit to the Wiggins the individual for having a great attitude and being a fierce competitior, but the fact that he and others like him (sporn, bannister) are in our 22 is a real worry for Carlton.

He wouldn;t get a game for many other clubs.

Isn't it pretty obvious who Lloydy is trying to model his game on? Yep. None other than:

Image

But hard as he tries Monga can never emulate The Commitment, The Insatiable Hunger, The Intensity, The "Eye of the Tiger" that is Simon Wiggins!! What a pathetic, lame-o attempt!!

Just like his diving, his piss poor acting skills aren't fooling anyone. Keep trying Monga but you don't have it in you!! Some people are just born with it!!

There is only ONE WIGGINS.

Thanks simonverbeek. Words to that effect, whilst factual, are none-to-often posted here.

He is just jealous because he only played 38 games and Wiggo is ahead of him.

Gees, you don't mind lining up the legends, do you?

Simon Verbeek was the player of the 90's. Forget all that claptrap, Bruce McAvaney driven hype about Wayne Carey. Verbeek was a visionary stuck in a game controlled by cretins. The cretins, unable to deal with sublime perfection, forced him out before his time.

A player of Verbeeks magnificence had not been seen before, and has only now been surpassed by Wiggins.

Simon Verbeek = Julius 'Dr J' Erving
Simon Wiggins = Michael 'Air' Jordan

All players called Simon are supreme beyond compare.

The Simon Team would look something like this

B Wiggins Prestigiacomo Atkins
HB Verbeek Crawshay Beaumont
C Tregenza Black Godfrey
HF
F Beasley
R Madden

Feel free to add more Simons - My brain just stopped

Sometimes we accept that Carlton fans may get abit negative, sometimes we just have moronic fans who cannot see the game as they are blinded by hatred.. To be fair, within this group we have fans who cannot see the failure of key players, and indeed blame the 'tryers' in the team for the overall team failures.

Those of you who blame Wiggins on Saturday are taking the extremely easy route. Wiggins is a back pocket player, occasional HBF'er. He is solid enough, tries hard, but is becoming a senior player. To blame him for our woes is naive at its best; he is developing, he has just had his best month of football and his improvement is still coming through.

You can kid yourself all you want, Wiggo is improving and is a required player.

Not blaming him for anything that happened on Saturday (if only he was the only problem :? )

Just pointing out that he wouldn't get a game for any team outside the bottom four. Youre right, he has played his best month of footy in 5 years and most people still aren't convinved.

Look, i like him for his efforts - but he just ain't a player. he gets a consistent game cos we're a very average team and that reality is very painful (which is why many in here live in denial that he and other duds are promising)
