Geez, Goltz... Lance a leader? Lance is the last guy you'd choose to lead a bunch of young, professional footballers.

Even after being HONOURED with the captaincy of this great club, he couldn't even bring himself to do what was required to keep his weight to an acceptable level.

Lance isn't a leader's a-hole, and for the sake of fast-tracking player development, I'd get him out of the place as quickly as possible.

Exactly right.

Lance can't even speak.Other captains must laugh when they hear him.

Was that when they were tossing the coin?
Because apart from that he had 9 ineffective disposals, 4 critical errors and 1 contested mark. Not sure whether anyone would rate that as good output for CHF captain who is on $400k.

Dont undersell him Rhys.

He had 5 critical errors, not 4.

I hate to admit it, but I was one of the supporters of Lance being named captain. I always thought he had leadership qualities, and as soon as Campo walked I thought Lance would be the next best choice.

How wrong I was

Stevo's obvious; but Simmo was great.....especially for a kid.....running the lines and leading by example.

Sorry BV but he was so hopeless yesterday it was bordering on embarrassing.
His efforts in the second half to get to contests where the ball hit the ground were disgusting. In fact him being on the ground in the last quarter helped us in the race for the gold priority pick. We were never going to win while he was on the ground, his opponents like Mcphee was just running off him easily and rebounding. Like usual Lance was trailing 5 to 10 meters behind looking like he was trying to chase.
Do you honestly think that there will be silly clubs out there willing to take him on next season??

i actually feel sorry for Lance,,,but that doesnt stpme from wanting him to be away from the club,
If i wereLance id be tlking to Pratt to help me start something up after footy.
There would be plenty of people around the club to give Lance a guiding hand,.
Maybe a Maccas franchise?

Agree Synbad, I actually like him but watching him yesterday was heartbreaking. You could actually see him working hard but the body wasn't willing, he looked more like a 46 year old running around.

I am afraid his time is up. It may be a pivotal decision by Ratten as they are good mates. Will it cloud his judgement?

Im actually hoping with Swann and Icke the boys club mentality will come to and the difficult questions are answered in a manner that underlines the ambition this footy club.

Lance's problem has always been sticking to the fat side of the ground....

A few are being a bit rough on Lance. I actually thought he went OK. Was Lucas put on him to create a mismatch, no, he was put on him because he was looking dangerous and with Fletcher off they had to put the best tall available on him. To me that was a win for Carlton, taking a goal kicking matchwinner away from the forward line. Our real deficiency is in the backline with no key defenders, stop rubbishing a guy who would be the best third tall going around in forward lines. He eases the pressure on the other forwards. Not to mention first game back for a while.

Lance should be offered a mentoring role in the Carlton's reserve side next year - Much along the line of Digby this year

There has been many a Carlton great finish their careers teaching kids in the reserves - Ashman was one of them that comes to mind

I had thought of this as well. Give him a chance to use his "football brain" now that his body cannot keep up.

There is no way Lance would stick around to mentor kids once he gets the sack.

You mean youd keep him on the list to mentor kids???

Why????

To chew u list space???

If we are going to field a reserve side next year we are going to have to fill places in that reserve side from outside the list of 44 - Lance should be made captain of the reserves out side the list . He will still be a one club man - still be able to just play footy but not on the list and not under the cap

Swann sounds like we're more likely to stick with the bullants and play games at MCLP.
