Heard Cloke snr on the radio and the impression i got was the Clokes are waiting for carltons position before they decide on the surgery. If Carlton give him another contract for 2008 he'll have the op. Otherwise he'll try to come back this year and have the op at seasons end.

I'd give him another year and maybe even two. His endeavour up until now could not be questioned.

Offer Cloke another contract, so he can prepare to the best of his ability for season 2008

they have to promote Aisake... right?? who else is there... Jamison and Jacobs... have to get A.O'hAilpin in there... has there ever been a brothers ruck combo in the one team, that is, assuming both ruck?

Brothers Madden in the Essendon* sides of the early 1980s - but if it gets up would have to be the most inexperience ruck combination in the history of AFL/VFL football.

2 boys who have probably only ever played 40 games of football EVER in their entire lives.

Sensational effort - the upside is exponentional on the brothers O'hAilpin no matter what tosspots like Greg Baum say.

Playing Sake would be completely out of character for the MC, but wouldn't we all love to see it. What a lift it would provide Setanta also. I would be worried if I was a Roo forward.

We have nothing to lose by playing Sake. Our ruck division is below average without Cloke. We can only improve by having him in there supporting Ackland. Enables us to send Setanta back to the backline, Whitnall forward, drop Kennedy (only to freshen him up for a few weeks in the Ants) and bring Blackwell in as the other runner.

wouldnt be surprised to see big unit sammy jacobs get the nod ahead of zaccy. Sammy is a mountain of a man in the traditional tap ruckman kind of role. has only just returned from injury but has shown good form.

Wouldn't mind seeing SJ in their either! I think if the Blues don't significantly improve our ruck division we can expcet another few years of average seasons. It's the biggest hole in our team. All the gun teams have a strong ruck division.

You'd think that would only happen if he was guaranteed a position for next year (which I think he deserves).

Fair chance that's happened ...... I suggest.

And, ditto on earning the opportunity if the shoulder patches up OK.

'Talking to the club'... and the comment in the Aisake article mentioning Cloke talking to the match committee....I'd say it's been agreed that he gets another year or so at the Club. In that way Cloke can still have 2008 to prove himself, this time against some stiffer internal opposition.

I hope they only gave him 1 year - it's enough for him to work towards and is reward for being our best option at this point in time - but anything more should not be contemplated for a 196cm tryer.

Agree Molsey. Hopefully give the kid 1 more year only, being 2008 and then we can assess again. My concern is that he is not big enough to be an AFL ruckman so he must add more strings to his bow if he where to stay on the list moving forward. Can he play KP, ie. CHF or CHB. These are the spots where he needs show something in to make it as an AFL regular.

I have a feeling the AFLPA negotiated a deal so if a player was injured long term in the fimal year of his contract, the club would be required to pay an additional year for rehab unless a suitable arrangement could be made.

If so, than that gives him another crack. Had he chosen the rehab option with intentions to play in 8 weeks, the club would be within it's rights to de-list at season's end citing poor form or whatever.
