I'm only complaining about the cost if it goes through.

I like the approach. If Houston comes at a price that suits us, great. If not, by all means go to the draft.
Some will complain that we don't get the deal completed but they'll also be the ones that will probably complain at the cost if it goes through.
Austin appears to be going in with an open mind and a view to the future. That sounds good to me.

agree, Austin handles himself pretty well.

According to afl.com.au we are hoping for the following trade:

Carlton
- Give 2025 1st and 2nd round, pick #34
- Get Gold Coast pick #13 and Essendon** 2025 2nd round

Essendon**-
- Give 2025 2nd round
- Get Carlton pick #34

Gold Coast
- Give pick #13
- Get Carlton 2025 1st and 2nd round

I think Essendon** would need our pick #34 to match bids on Kako whilst we need their future 2nd round to comply with the AFL laws regarding not trading out of both the future 1st and 2nd rounds.

Why do we need the Scum in this at all?

#13 for #34 & a future first, under the new points table, is more than fair. If Craig Cameron wants to walk away with the BDE, then we’ll swap our future 2nd for their 3rd. If there’s more than 8 picks between them, I’ll go hee.

Take 12 & 13 to the draft & call it a day.

what draft picks are we likely to need to cover F/S choice Cody Walker?....im imagining we are happy to load up on the 2024 draft because of its quality and likely to secure Cody at a concessional rate in 2025 (noting that is more expensive in 2025 under the new F/S rules)

If we take pick 12, 13 to the draft. And have no second round. What does that mean for the campo twins ? Are we sure that we can use round 3 and onwards for them?

yes. Nothing has changed for FS selections this year, changes are flagged for next year when we can potentially get Cody Walker

No what im saying is will the 3rd round picks and onwards be enough for the campo twins.

If we give away round 2, and someone bids round round two, will we potentially have enough points from round 3 onwards ?

The biggest issue for us is Gold Coast have stated they want Noble, so in my view Collingwood is likely to end up with pick 13. Not sure how we beat that.

Maybe we can swap our F1 for one on Freo’s. They might want an extra to chase Warner next year

Houston needs to settle on a club, but he wont as he seems just to want to come to Melbourne.

Gives Port even more strength in their hands as well as the contract.

So if Houston would not mind going to Collingwood and they have players going to GC and Port, then they will get him.

Not upset at losing out, but hate Collingwood beating us at anything. Haha.

It’s not a good outcome if we don’t end up with another first round pick in a supposedly strong draft. Austin has stated the focus is on the draft this year. Picks 12 & 35 is not that great.

If it plays out as the media suggests it might - Craig Cameron will make Collingwood considerably stronger. I'm not sure why you'd do that if you're the Gold Coast Suns. Then again, Austin has seemingly told everyone what our plans are. Is there really any need for anyone to meet with Carlton?
This week was always about who was better at negotiation. From what I've seen thus far, the current powers that be don't know what that is.

I wouldn’t be upset with getting #13 even if we don’t get Houston. Happy to take #12 & #13 to the draft!

Agree with you there. We told the world we dont want Owies, Kennedy and Young.

So who wants to trade for them now. They are waiting on us to delist Owies. And wanting to get Kennedy on the cheap.

Kennedy at another club would have sought a second rounder I reckon. Like ferdinkum, is Joe Richards better than him ? Honestly - Um No.

Owies too has more runs on the board than Richards.

Why the frick do clubs deal with Collingwood to make them stronger ? They get enough preferential treatment as it is. GC that soulless club prefer to deal with Collingwood? Are they for real.

And why oh why would Port deal with Collingwood anyway, with all the beef they have.

I hope Houston just stays at the Power in the end.

Austin - I have no faith in him, in trade period nor in the draft. Sorry those who are fans of his, but I dont have any confidence in him at all.

But lets see shall we..

Just listening to Nick Austin today, sounds like Owies is almost certainly on the way out
