Really excited with the way this is playing out. Feels like for the first time we are actually going through a very thorough process to find a coach. Will definitely need some time but as long as he is surrounded with top notch assistants and development coaches then we should really see some big improvements.

So will the new coach be able to filter the toxic water in our fish tank?

Scott Burns IMO has a good chance of landing a senior gig. Whether it's us or not, time will tell.

But, I thought the same thing about Gavin Brown.........Have we spoken to him ?????

The mind boggles to think that for years we've not searched high and low for the right candidate to fill the most important role at the club.

Doesn't want a senior gig. Far happier in development roles.

Agreed. It's nice to feel like a grown up club for a change.

Yup

I just hope that if they do go with Barker, that the club understands an extra level of transparency will be necessary to show supporters WHY he was the best man compared to the others. The Pagan/Ratten/Malthouse appointments are still fresh in our minds, and the club would not want this one to give the same impression.

How cool would it be if we went through a proper process to find a new recruiter too - as Trigg said a while back we would be replacing Rogers.

I hope it's Bolton. Just for the press conferences

And yes I know that's shallow

After listening to Malthouse for the last couple of years it would be a nice change.

Maybe we should get Stevo on the panel, hold mock press conferences during the interview stage... just in case

Cheaper for us to just get Enma Quayle to shoot through her list before Draft Day.

I think her strike rate is better than Hughes and Rogers.

And we could put the money into Player Development which we really suck at.

Caro reckons it's Bolton and Pyke...... ahead of Barker and Dew.

WTF would she know, seriously

If we are holding a professional interview process, there should be no leaks of who is ahead of who. I would assume in a professional interview process that the panel would not leak out information to the media over their preferences of candidates to date.

Fair enough if she spoken to bolton or pyke directly and they have said the interviews went really well, then l can see how she would take that as being ahead of Barker and Dew. But, if there was any leakage from the interview panel already, then we have lacked professionalism once again..

At this stage, l still think what ever Caro says right now is BS, unless we are unprofessional in this process :P

Just wondering what you mean by gets moved on quickly?

He was the longest serving coach in Crows history and was with the Club overall from 1997-2011
From there he was signed by the Demons immediately and only left in 2013 because he didn't get the top job as the AFL had sorted Paul Roos for the job.
Then he joined then immediately joined the Bombers. Where he still is.

Who moved him on quickly?

dont argue with his agenda

Includes audio of WIlson's discussion about Bolton and Pyke.

Assuming we get a coach from outside the bubble I'd like to hope that guys like Yarran/Henderson etc are more likely to stay and be given a fresh outlook on footy and their future at Carlton.

absolutely ... henderson and yarran can be on our a list ... they just need to be engaged into what we're doing.

sadly, my gut says they're jaded and over cfc and everything it's been about.

I can never understand why people say that players are disengaged etc. its just not logical for a professional athlete who lives and dies by his reputation, would deliberately "disengage" and let his reputation suffer- either in the renegotiation of his next contract, or with a prospective new team to be traded to. Either way, as a competitive athlete or more importantly as a "contractor" who is about to negotiate a new contract, would you ever diminish your reputation/market worth. if someone can explain this then I might start believing these rumors.
More likely they are playing without confidence or are injured or both. Either way a new season and a new coach would more than likely resolve both issues. Given that we are getting a new coach , I can see no logical reason why Yarran and henderson cant return to their former glory, possibly exceeding it. Patience
