Charlie ahead of Harry and it's not that close.
Curnow had a delayed start to the pre season and then had more surgery in February.
Would be great to have both fit and available....doesn't solve the issue of butchers up the ground kicking it to them.
I was being mischievous.
The problem with pointing the blame elsewhere, is we turn a blind eye to the issue at hand, and like the club, we overrate our players.
Forget all the stupid, low IQ delivery from beyond 50. On SEN today Champion Data came to the conclusion we are high and elite in 5 of the 6 important categories, its baffling, and they concluded the forward IQ at Carlton is what's missing. They suggest 30% of our list lack IQ. Have a look at Charlie and Harry's intelligence when the ball is coming their way. One hand up, standing on a spot, want to play body on body, when Charlie is smaller, at least Harry is taller and better imo one on one, or use to. They are wasted opportunities. Where is their creativity. Give them something. Move. Lead. Don't think DO!!
And you want to blame it all on those beyond 50 with the ball. Of course thay are going to bomb it. Its orchestrated by Charlie mainly. Our big white hope. He should be dropped. but who have we got? A 21yo Lemmey.
The point is, Charlie gets his fair share as does Harry, when he plays. They are paid $900k+ each to be professional forwards. Their job is to kick goals. A Forward should be able to have a set routine shooting at goal. Harry and Charlie are sposmodic, and do't. The are using Carlton Games ( 4 points) as their casual training arena. They've been doing that for 7 years. They still can't be relied on to kick straight. Don't stick up for either of them these days.
Its a disgrace. Lairising. Casual. Careless. Negligent. Costly.
Charlie is lame. Have you seen him run? and some posters are thinking of putting him in the backline. I don't care, but I know back there he will expose the team. He doesn't tackle. He has the turning circle of a ship, he isn't that great anymore. Harry isn't either, but he's not lame below the knees. My biggest fear of Harry is one head knock and he's concussed. Its a liability. I'd target him in a Final. He doesn't have to hit the ground. Just a hard bump and his head sways like a boxer whose just been hit. But at least he can sprint and tackle and he's got a good engine. He also marks, but he suffers from the same syndrome as Charlie. See above.
The are both the same value to me. Overpaid, out of form, unreliable KPFs. The people who watch them and know footy don't think they are reliable, and flakey.
Both would receive more ball from a better system. I get that. But the ball they get are less than 50-50, its 65-35. How many dont make the distance, out on a full,, off the side of the boot, let alone through the behinds.
Not good enough. I'm sick of sticking up for the players.
I don't know why you would value Charlie so high, and why? Coleman? Coz he's the only one we've got?
When Charlie and Harry won their Coleman's they were the No. 1 target for the team. We lost most games. Both were targets 80% of the entries. I think skills were better back then, from those delivering, and from them, but mentally, they are weak as piss.
Charlie played in the best team and best Finals campaign for Carlton this century. In 2023. Charlie didn't turn up for 3 consecutive games. Harry did, but he was up the ground as a marking target.
They both have peaked and are lame one way or another. They've both cost us games, more than they've won us games since 2023 Finals series.
That's why you ask what do you do with them? How do we take advantage of their skills and hide their deficiencies, chuck them in the backline. I get it. That's how frustraing both are as our KPFs for one reason or another.
Glad I got that off my chest.
