What a conundrum for the coaching staff? 2 wins out of 6 this year when we play 2 rucks and TDK plays forward.
9 wins, zero losses when we play 1 ruck and 2 tall forwards. Best defensive profile in the AFL with 1 ruck, 2nd best offensive profile in the AFL. Best inside 50 tackling team when we play 1 ruck.
TDK the 2nd highest rated player the game at the moment.
Must have been a tough night at selection.

IMHO, Voss loves one thing. Winning games. To suggest he loves 2 rucks or one ruck is absolute nonsense. He loves winning. And if that trend changes next week and needs a different structure, he'll adapt.

Pitto is a decent player but he's insurance at the moment. The issue isn't Pitto. The issue is we win less games when we have 2 rucks and 2 tall forwards. It's not a new phenomenon. The same thing was realised last year.
Tommy is approaching his prime. He's currently the best big man in the game and he deserves the role he has obtained. 1 out, number 1 ruck. It's great for him and brilliant for us.

I think you can just substitute Braithy’s avatar…

Could it be, that Vossy doesn't prefer two rucks? This is going to be like telling Bondi santa claus isn't real

Easy jake

I’ve made it clear I don’t care if Vossy chooses one or two rucks, and gave plenty of reasons why 2 rucks would be considered. This week it’s wet. GWS only have one ruck and Ricardi.

Vossy has already proven he would play 2 rucks when he sees fit, when you and Braithy said he wouldn’t.

It’s the bullshit stats to make a point that dirties the water and integrity of the site.

I will always respond to bullshit stats on this site. I don’t get intimidated.

I’ve read the responses and I’m glad civility has returned to the site. No one is overtly smug nor suggesting Voss has made the right or wrong choices this week.

It’s a great team. I hope TDK continues with his form and becomes consistent. Harry should do well against Riccardi. Not all teams play one ruck. You know last years Premiers didn’t.

8 H&A games to go and a month of Finals. As I’ve said all along, For lots of reasons, I will not be surprised to see our team with 2 rucks.

If Vossy doesn’t play 2 rucks in Finals, I will back Vossy and cross my fingers. I hope you and Braithy can do the same if he selects 2 rucks.

I also hope we haven’t jinxed our rucks and we have to go with Pitto as sole ruck in Finals.

Regardless, we have before our eyes the best running team I have ever seen in 50 years. I also believe we will keep improving from this base. What’s the base? It’s knowing what our game looks like and what every player needs to do to beat any team anywhere, including SCG.

We may have a hiccup or two if we lose focus, but we will bounce back and and Vossy will right the ship.

Let’s wait and see what happens with the rucks. There’s always going to be 21 or 22 other players who we have to remember are out there backing up each other, playing our way.

I wish for your team a huge win and a percentage over 120% after this Saturday. The 4 points will do

 Stronger Together

All good mate, I was just joking. Of course I will back 2 rucks if we go that way and will hope it works, however skeptical I may be. And no matter how strongly I believe something, I’ll always be open to changing my mind if the evidence presents

Yeah, what he said. Summed it up perfectly BV.

Anyway, selection is in, let’s get on with flogging this plastic Frankenstein sorry excuse for a club.

We are gonna run them off their feet with this lineup. Best Carlton team we’ve named since 2000-01

2 wins out 6 when Fogarty out
9 wins out 9 when Fogarty in.

So is the lack of forward half pressure because we play 2 rucks

Or more likely the lack of forward half pressure is when Fogarty is missing

What a conundrum for the selection committee

Lack of forward pressure because Fogarty is missing, or lack of forward pressure because our forward line is top heavy with 2 key forwards and a ruckman?

Since returning last year when he has played we are 20 wins 2 losses.
The 2 losses were the preliminary and dead rubber against GWS

1 ruck 2 ruck it doesn't matter

Like most I had written him off.

Amazing turnaround and best role player we have
Before his Injury he ranked no 1 for tackles in forward half and forward half pressure acts.

Him going out along with Saad was when we played 2 rucks.

As said before it's horses for courses.
We don't need 2 rucks against GWS
We will against Freo Dee's Dogs and pies and the way Darcy and Jackson beat up on Grundy I would do the same against Swans

Most other teams we play you would back TDK to go it alone and dominate

Quite possible. 1 ruck, Fogarty in. Sounds like you've hit on the winning formula.
Glad we can agree.

I was going to reach out to dannyboy to write a piece (overdue) in a new thread. I wanted to call it The Peace Pipe, or Lets make TC great again, or Stronger Together... but thought there's no time like now to say what needs to be said. Apologies if there's grammatical mistakes. I'll read it in the morning.

There's a great video that was released last year featuring Vossy after every game .
Win or lose you wouldn't have known.
Vossy was consistent. Same facial expression, same tone, same message, same beliefs.
He didnt lose sight or stray from the road to the end goal. He understands human beings and is a great leader of men.

Over the last couple months I have had plenty of time to think about is the pain and suffering us Carlton fans have had to endure since 2002.
The scars of constantly losing and our hopes and dreams smashed before half the season has even been completed, year after year.
I think about our fears, and our egos and every ones passion that drives us to work out what we need to win. How can we help?

There's no right or wrong on these forums, but from our own perspective we believe we are right because we want what's right for Carlton.
We argue and debate and discuss and hate, but we all want the same thing. Whatever is best for Carlton to win.
Vossy has shown patience and the ability to nurture and guide the team to become better every week.
After every loss he has used it as a lesson of what the team needs to fix and the team comes out a different team for the better.

The team plays for each other and the care and love between the team mates is there for all of us to see, since the Effendon loss last year.
The team believes in Voss and we are grateful to Voss for pulling us all together; the team, the fans, who have seen success and fans who have yet to taste it.
We are Stronger Together and the players honour the motto.

I truly believe Vossy when he says we are not the finished product, and I trust this team because the players trust each other and the coach.
Like BV said above, Vossy likes winning. Vossy is a winner, and will do whatever is needed for Carlton to win the ultimate prize.
I believe this squad is revving up as Vossy tweaks and adjusts the game plan to ensure we are ready for battle at the pointy end of the season.
We are getting back our injured players and there's pressure for spots. We have never been fitter.

I believe we will win the flag with one ruck or two rucks TBH. It is a united team on the same page who will win the ultimate prize.
My want for 2 rucks comes from a place called fear. I want Insurance. But I know whatever Vossy decides, he will make the right choice.
I don't want to hear we will lose with Pitto in the ruck, or with two rucks or no ruck in the GF. It scares me.
So I'd like you all to know, I respect your fears and your desire to do whatever it takes to ensure Carlton wins the ultimate prize.

We are in a position today which is a foreign place. The Cup is a strong possibility. We can all almost smell it. We aren't use to this feeling, and don't want to lose it.
There are 12 teams that can play Finals at this stage, not much separates them, and the competition for the ultimate prize has never been so open.
Our job is to support Voss and show him and the players the trust we have in them as they show towards each other.

Sorry if I've upset any of you, and I know I have. Some I didn't mean to, BV, some I did on purpose today to turn the tables on them.
You are all part of my Blue Brethren, and I appreciate the support you give my team, your team, our team.

We are stronger together, and united we bring the noise to games, a noise and passion unmatched by others.
So hopefully we can let by gones be by gones, and we forgive and forget the crap we have dished out to each other in the past.
Lets enjoy this ride with Vossy and this fantastic squad we have. Lets put our arms around the boys who miss out on selection every week.
Every player in our squad helps create the comradery we all admire today. So lets respect and all enjoy each others connection to the same thing: Carlton.
Remember how good it feels when you meet someone new and you ask them who they barrack for, and they say Carlton. We are those people.
Don't let age or eras separate us. We are all in this together.

We know today we are heading in the right direction. If there's blips along the way, so be it, call it out, respectfully, but lets remember we are heading in the right direction.
Its a great feeling being a Carlton supporter in 2024. Finally we believe we are good. I want to enjoy the ride with all of you. Lets make TC great again, and feel the love.

I look forward to celebrating a flag with you all hopefully this year. bb

VFL ply before the seniors, likely Hewett will be the one held out as emergency.

Pitto didn’t make that much difference last week.

Just on the ruck discussion,
realy need to be aware of opposition
Teams taking TDK out to further
their own interests.

I still remember what Essendon*
did to Kouta when he was flying, played part
time ruck and the filthy scum continually
jumped straight into him in an effort to maim
and finally they bustet his knee.

If only . I met the love of my life in 1970 . We went to the 1970 Grand Final together . Jezza took that screamer right in front of us . Anyhow , 12 months later we were married and we have lived happily and blissfully together up to this day . Sadly she aint a Blues supporter . She's a paid up and proud Pies supporter . Over half a century that . The moral of the story ? like minds don't always think alike .

PS ............. over the years we have seen these mini battles between and quarrels between posters ( currently its the battle hardened and wise old head Bondi V the young up and comer , the kid with a bit of spunk Braithy ) . Well , for me its nothin" coz not only is the better half a Pies supporter but the whole family is and everyone who married into the family is . So , against insurmountable odds I have battled on one out and have never backed down or given one inch . So my advice to all combatants is to stick to your guns . Fight the fight and never surrender .

That production is brilliant. I really admire Saba's analysis. Smart cooky.

No, its not that vid. I think it may have been a twitter clip.

It is exclusively Voss Press interviews, maybe 10 of them, and half of them after a loss.
At the end of the vid the statement explains when the footage was taken.
Vossy did not change his approach or message one bit.

I like the way Vossy sees the losses as a lesson. A lesson of the gaps "we need to fix". He doesn't say he has to fix.
He has bonded the team, and their ethos to love each other.
Such is the love and care for each other, there is another fear that drives the players: Fear of alienation.
No one wants to leave Carlton ... that includes the like of Dow, who had options elsewhere but he saw his name in the pecking order.

For me, my message is that every player knows their role, and the "one soldier down another steps up" mantra is for real.
Every player loves this team and their coaches and want success for each other. They are the cohort. All of them.
They know they can create history. Their history. Most important they are playing for the fans. They know our pain.

There will be players who miss selection, and if any of those on the outer was selected, they would know what their role is.
The message from the coach and players are clear. At our best they know they can beat anyone.
Lets make them all feel they are the best: Best 23 or Best squad in the AFL.
We are Stronger Together.

I will try and find that video and post.

I have another video I will post after the win on Saturday night. A very spooky video that will send chills down your spines.

The video identifies what we all are, players and fans aligned, and the stars have aligned, and shows some evidence we have learned our lessons from the 90's.
We are Stronger Together, and if you think we are different to all other clubs, you are dead right.

I admire your grit Mick.

That’s a lot of filthy influence you’ve had to endure.

Did she have all her teeth back in 1970?

I look forward to celebrating a flag with you all hopefully this year. bb

Go Blues

Good onya BV. I will respond to your PM.
My Message bank was full till January, but I'm learning, and I will learn how to use the PM functions.
And thanks to all the messages from fellow TC's whilst I was absent.
GM Chris, I don't know how your found my personal contact, and glad you did.

I'll see a few of you at the footy, and buy CK's kids a couple oranges to enjoy...blue oranges...Gorringes.
CK, don't be a hero, you really should wear more than an iron maiden T Shirt.

Edit. PS: I hope you continue to enjoy your holiday, and Carlton keeps winning for you.

I admire your grit Mick.

That’s a lot of filthy influence you’ve had to endure.

Did she have all her teeth back in 1970?

Mick's story is a beauty with a great lesson.
I don't know how she could look at him, let alone talk to him after that loss in 1970.
Made for each other.

My wife is different to me, she's female.
She's a Sydney girl working in Media, and doesn't like sport. She's the creative type.
One day she brought this Ladies Of Carlton silk scarf which was a prop for a shoot. :gift:

Since then, she was happy for me to name my son Carlton, and wears her scarf to the games, and our Carlton parties at home.
She's a trooper, comes to the footy, buys all interstate flights, and enjoys going, with a Mag or two, her glass of wine, to hear us shout (and cry), and in the last year, screaming our lungs out in joy.
I'm sure she thinks Carlton winning, for me, is better than Sex. For about 60 seconds its on par, the rest of the time...she's right.

The addition of TDK and Cottrell makes this team look the quickest its ever been.

Ash selected at HB. Reported in the news he is given till tomorrow to prove he's fit to play.
He provided run like Whitfield.

I think Cincotta will go to Whitfield. He's their Architect in their backline.
