Very silly if they did take him in injured and rolled the dice

I think he has a future and is still by learning the caper

Kennedy must be doubtful. He was definitely injured last week
I can't argue much with this team. Got to get some fresh faces in and give them a chance. This would be Dow, Fogarty and Binns' first games for the season.

My only questions:
1. Do you think they would be tempted to bring Young back in given our lack of height in defence? From reports he didn't do much in the Reserves last week.
2. Do they bring in Ed Curnow given their history of giving subs an upgrade regardless of form (eg Honey)?

I hope no to both of those. We need more run in the side and fresh faces eager to impress.

I'd like to see Harry take the first centre bounce.

Gawn would infringe, then mouth off.

50m penalty.

Harry gets a shot, misses, and Melbourne start the game with a coast to coast goal.

Pretty good team Farmer Blue, but my hunch (based on history) is that Honey comes in, instead of Fogarty
I also think Fisher will be in instead of Dow(sub) or maybe Binns... But agree the latter two deserve it more than Fish atm

Go Blues

fisher has played one good game in the magoos, while dow has played plenty of good games in the maggos.

fisher is thus a lock to be selected

If Dow is Selected, this is surely his last Chance before getting delisted end of year or even mid year!

Dow has averaged 41 Disposals and high 30's last few weeks and has also been kicking Goals.

He needs to do the same in the Seniors. Anything less than 30 disposals is a Failure. A 20 disp game can be acceptable if he does all the right things and have an influence on the Game.

Sadly, he keeps getting 10, 12 or 15 Max Disposals with ZERO influence on all the previous Senior games played. Let's pray that changes on Friday night!

Honestly I don’t think Dow will be selected. Nor Binns.
I reckon Fisher will come in and Ed will be elevated due to experience.
Likely for mine:
Pitto - SOS
Hollands - O’Brien
Hewett - Ed
Durdin - Fisher
Newman - Cincotta
If Kennedy also misses, maybe, just maybe Dow will get a crack but I suspect they’ll bring in Fogarty ahead of Dow.
I can see Doc and Walsh together with Cerra & Cripps as the primary mids. If Dow does come in they will probably play him forward.
Hope I’m wrong and Dow gets a crack and mostly mid but I doubt it.

Think you’re right 17th, judging on previous form the MC.
Cincotta was a bit stiff to lose his place originally.
Honey should definitely not be in the mix based on form which we know doesn’t always come into play.

Great news Cerra will play: our best mid this year, followed by Walsh imo.

I watched the reserves live and have posted my thoughts. Funny how some posters are going off reports and interpreting conflicting views.

Jack started in the backline, and did OK. Not great. OK. Have a look at the websites highlight package of just SOS. Not much to be excited by and he mustered a bunch of kicks from the kick in.
Young went forward. Swans C grade team were on top of our B grade team in the first half before they tired, or the move of Young back bolstered the backline, coz the backline was great. Where was Fisher in the first half when Swans through the challenge? IMO, same old selfish down hill skiing Fisher. He ammassed a heap of possessions when the Swans died in the arse ie he had no opponent.

IN: Young Cincotta SOS Dow and a toss up between Fogarty Fisher and OBrien for the sub.

Fix up last week's silly decision to drop Young and leave short players to defend McLean and McAndrew.
Anyone who saw Gov and Kemp on these giants would know it wasn't a fair contest they were thrown into by the MC (once again).

Cincotta didn't deserve to be dropped, and played a really attacking game from HBF. He's got it. I'm glad Boyd repaid the faith in him and showed something last week.

This week we are up against Gawn and Grundy. No Pitto and TDK will need relief. SOS is not a 2nd ruck and may have to wax the CHB position with Young so Young can give TDK some relief. When that happens and TDK needs rest Gov plays the 3rd tall position, waxing with SOS. Gov can be swung back or just discarded altogether after this game if he fails again.

Dow for Hewett...and hope Dow realises his defensive efforts will be the focus.

I am not a fan of 3 midgets in the forward line hence Fish doesnt replace Durdin for me.

Strangely, I think we are a chance with all the media attacking people at all levels of our club. I can see Cripps, Harry, Charlie and Doc breathing fire. I can see Dow and Jack wanting to prove they belong. Owies has to make up for last weeks shocking kicking and Motlop has to get to double figures with his disposals.

This is pretty much what I’m expecting too, however I’d like to see them play Harry as second ruck to shake him up and get him out of his mental rut.

I’d also bring in Young instead of JSOS as we need his height in defence and he did “ok” in the VFL. This would also make our forward line more unpredictable and hopefully force our mids to vary their targets on entry, however I fear that they would just kick to Charlie all the time if Harry was rucking and TDK on the bench such is their current incompetence.

I can't help but feel this suddent burst of injuries might actually do us some good. It might force us to do something different...

OUT: Durdin (inj), Hewiit (inj), Pittonet (inj), Newman (inj), Hollands (inj)
Possible: Cerra (susp)

Before the bust up with Caro I would have said Cripps could have the week off, but I feel he might come out breathing fire...

So, up to six changes, and at least five forced ones.

I can't say there are six players in line for a recall in the twos... But going on recent form:

Dow - if not now, when?
Fisher - Dominated at VFL level last week... He's not suddenly changed into a different player, however.
Fogarty - has been an emergency on a few occasions recently. You'd think he'd get a chance, albeit a last chance.
Binns - has displayed some good form, and probably deserves a run.

Plowman has been solid, but he's... you know... Plowman.
Young - only *just* got dropped. He didn't do anything in particular to say 'pick me' again straight away.
Silvagni - same as above.
Marchbank - finally back from injury, and has played football for two weeks. Again, he's not done much to say 'pick me!'
O'Brien - similar to others. He is the player he is, and hasn't exactlty set the world on fire.
Honey - same again. He's fit, but he's not done anything worth mentioning lately.
Cincotta - much the same as the others. He's fit, but hasn't set the world on fire.
Cowan - is listed as a 'test', so might not play at all this week.
Cunningham - no recent footy. Is listed as a 'test', so might not play at all this week.
Martin - no recent footy. Is also listed as a 'test', so might not play at all this week.

Lemmey, O'Keefe, Akuei, Mirkov are a million miles off. And everyone else is injured.

LOB and Cincotta both had really good games in the VFL in Sydney, particularly Cincotta.

I’m not sure if it was coincidence, but when they moved Young from the forward line back to defence after half time we really got on top of Sydney. He was very solid down back with marking and punching, not so solid with his handballs.

It's funny isn't it... I watched that game and thought LOB & Cincotta were fine without being worth picking this week.

Maybe Harry to the wing Richo style?
He has kind of played a bit of that role anyway but still had the expectation of running down and hitting the scoreboard. Maybe take the scoring pressure off him for a few weeks and hopefully his dies kicking is good in which case, show him that on repeat to build his kicking confidence back up.

I'd probably go:

Docherty - Weitering - Kemp
Saad - McGovern - Boyd
Acres - Dow - Cottrell
Motlop - C.Curnow - Fisher
Owies - McKay - Kennedy
TDK - Cerra - Walsh

Cripps - Fogarty - Cincotta - Binns

sub: O'Brien

TDK takes the centre bounces then drops back into defence as the spare (also taking ruck contests in defensive 50).
Cripps does around-the-ground ruck contests.
Harry does them in attacking 50.
Docherty plays defence to steady the ship. No going into the midfield on Friday.
Kennedy plays third tall in attack.

Make no mistake, Melbourne will be seeking revenge from their loss last week.
This game has the potential to be a blow out.

This is what I'd like to see.

B: Boyd Young Kemp
HB: Docherty Weitering Saad
C: Binns Cripps LOB
HF: McGovern McKay Walsh
F: Motlop Charlie Owies
Foll: TDK Kennedy Cerra
Int: JSOS Cottrell Cincotta Acres (Ed)

Acres needs to play more of a HB role IMO.
Cottrell needs a run in the middle, he's the only player we have that can offer more speed, even if he is only tagging and blocking for other mids.
And if Langdon starts getting too much ball he can tag him out also.
LOB will bring in better forward delivery, hopefully.
Young to ruck D50, JSOS to relieve in the middle and also Ruck F50 when in there.
McGovern as the 3rd tall or intercept defender.
And stop putting Doc in the centre, he's too slow, I'd rather he share HB with Acres and HF with Walsh.
And keep Kennedy in the centre.

Plenty of run and height.

From Triple A? He's already had his cup of coffee but I'd definitely get him back in the show.

SOS or Young rucking against Gawn or Grundy worries the shit out of me.
