I would guess that 50% of the 85 points from turnover were in the D50 or defenders and wings up the ground. Weitering 12 points at least. Acres, dunno involved in chains of play that conceded about 40 points? Infuriating at least. Young 2 or 3 goals? The handball to opponent was the final straw for Voss. They all had shockers. Footy gods were out to mock any overblown egos that read too much into the Perth training drill. We can bounce back. Our defence hasn’t ever been that bad. Never seen Cripps and Walsh both play a shocker on the same day.

Someone at afl did an expose of Lions tagging Saad as he tried to run past the free kicker for a run and carry. They all did it and just blocked him out of any impact on the game. We need a player to chop out for him or some other ideas if other clubs do that again. He’s too important to us to be tagged out in those set play defensive transitions.

Honestly this game feels like THE line in the sand moment for this club.

If we dish up the same crap as last week, we might as well get belted by the Pies the following week as that might actually create real change within the club.

I don't get it. Where are the standards and expectations

This is almost the exact issue.
Instead of a player blocking for Saad, we needed other players to step up so blocking Saad became an unviable option for them.
This is why we are so easy to shut down, they only have to tag out a few key players as nobody else can or does step up.

I sometimes worry if Cook just decides that the place is beyond help and resigns into an earlier than planned retirement, lol.

He said on radio on Friday he plans to be around for at least 100 games which is reassuring given his initial deal is only for 3 years, until the end of 2024. Need a calm, experienced leader to cut out the noise, identify the core issues and then address them. Success has followed this guy from West Coast to Geelong so I’ve got faith he knows the recipe. Well at least a lot more faith than with the previous CEO at the helm.

Looks like it should be a reasonable home crowd - all GA tickets have been exhausted with only standing room tickets remaining. Perhaps some of the reserved seat members may still pull out in numbers, but it is a good indicator in any case.

I am flying to Victoria tomorrow for a funeral and will heading to the game on Saturday night. Glad to finally be able to use my Interstate membership for something other than a half price reserved seat (still $45-50!!) at Optus Stadium for the Weagles/Dockers games.

Looking forward to seeing which Carlton shows up! As cliched as it sounds, surely this has to be the line in the sand game? All I know is that if we lose this we are in all sorts....

Regardless of winning form, the media will still take pot shots at the club (and rightly so until we can shake our weaknesses).

If we can just play to the best of our abilities, everything else will fall into place.
