Cripps starts at full forward...just psychologically tells the other mids they need to stand up

Curnow starts on the wing but then plays between the arcs in an intercept/provide option down the line role

Tell our HFs they are not back pocket players, try and defend from the source I50, not run back as soon as we lose possession

Move the pieces around for 5-7 minute blocks each quarter FFS

Create some unpredictability

I'm jittery too!
Last year's game against the Aints was a shocker.
To add insult to injury, the trains weren't running on the Caulfield line :banghead:

Jittery? I'd be jittery if we were playing the Manangatang seconds. Just don't know what to expect from this side. Can beat anyone can lose to anyone.

I assume Adelaide weren't thinking that way when Walsh came in....

Not sure about Cripps to FF, but agree about moving the magnets a bit....
We've been playing very predictably and RTB would love that...
Our smalls are getting back to defend which is why a quick transition sees no one at the feet of the twin towers... Fair enough if we have one on one, but if a spare is there, or worse, wingers and mids (last week) then the bomb into 50 is.... Errrrr... questionable....
We seem to have lost the variability in play (possession v quick transition v flooding back) that we showed in the first games

Go Blues

Brave call BV... but a margin like (to us) that probably means a shoot out with us dominating.... I doubt RTB will play that way... But here's hoping!

The natural reaction on here is usually to 'do something different', but I'm not sure the coaching panel will.
They'll back the team to execute their roles as practiced, and beat St. Kilda by playing the way we know we can play.
So that probably means backing in the inside ball-winners to get the footy and get the ball quickly into the talls.

However, I'd like to try this:

Newman - Young - Weitering
Hewett - McGovern - Cincotta
Walsh - Cripps - Acres
Motlop - C. Curnow - Durdin
E. Curnow - McKay - Silvagni
Pittonet - Dow - Cerra

Hollands - Cowan - TDK - Kennedy

Sub: Fisher

Hewett started as a half-back, and his form isn't flash in the centre. He can go back and play the Doc role.
Cincotta in for Saad.
If McGovern doesn't get up, then Plowman porbbaly survives because no Saad makes the backline a little inexperienced... But I'd like to give Kemp a run instead.
Dow in to try and give us a bit of extra pace and run and spark in the middle. I know we've all thought this before and it hasn't happened, but he's getting good numbers in the seconds and deserves an opportunity.
E.Curnow to focus on making Sinclair's evening just awful.
Silvagni to keep Wilkie occupied and out of McKay's way.
Back McKay to beat Howard.
C. Curnow to run Battle ragged working up and back.

Saints comfortably 3 goals+

Ross and SOS have been waiting for this moment for 6 months

We are still a team of headf***s who pick and choose which game, which quarter etc. to play football

Nothing to do with personnel and injuries

We were beaten by GC, Stk and Adel last year when all three had only beaten either NM or WC in the preceding 3 games before us and the following 3 games after us

We then play so well (albeit we choked) against Melb and Coll (no Hewett, Kennedy and Walsh (against Coll))

Untrustworthy and conditional...yet to see any body of evidence to suggest oitherwise. We've won 7 of our last 17 games IIRC

Don’t think Vossy’s vision is adequate and Ross can be tricky.
It will be a tough, dure contest, very close , got the fingers crossed our boys will bring home the 4 points.

I agree with most of this. Not sure Hewett at half back will work - I’d play him in the middle and if he’s not fit enough I’d leave him out. I’d think about rotating Walsh through half back if we need someone to play the Docherty role b/c although he’s one of our best mids, he is also one of our best runners, good vision and good ball use. And they won’t expect that.
Also, I don’t think Ross is a god. He has them playing well but off a very low base. We are missing key personnel but they are too and our height will trouble them. As long as our mids lift which I think they will.
I predict we will smash them in the contest and will pull away after a tight first half.
Carlton by 25pts.
