Upgraded to a reserved seat on Ticketek yesterday. Not a lot of tickets available so if anyone is planning to go might need to reserve a seat.
Not expecting to win but hopefully put in some effort, looking forward to watching Weitering in his first of many games.
Thomas pretty unlucky to cop a suspension for his hit on Laidler, not much in it but stupid I guess.
I have just got this feeling we might go better than many are expecting.
9 sleeps to go.

Wow...and the Ticketek site worked? I'm impressed...
I gave up after two Friday mornings in a row wasted...I'll just walk up...bet there's plenty of places available...sick of paying for reserved seats, that assist the AFL, only to get dicked around by Ticketek, pay for the privilege and rock up t find empty seats in front of me or bump into a mate who has better seats and says "Yeah, I bought these today"

My Rd1 team:

Simpson, Jamison, Weitering
Docherty, Rowe, Tuohy
Kerridge, Gibbs, Boekhorst
Murphy, Everitt, White
Wright, Casboult, Walker

Kreuzer, Cripps, Graham

Inter - Curnow, Byrne/Whiley. Buckley, Phillips

I think they'll still stick with Everitt forward as, unlike the other hapless Gorringe, he has shown an ability to kick goals. White good insurance as can go back or forward.

Murph to start forward due to fitness concerns and his class will help around goals.

Byrne or Whiley a toss up to replace Thomas.

Carlton has upgraded Ciaran Byrne to the senior list under the rules relating to the pre-season promotion of a rookie.

Confident we will match them in general play but we lack fire power up front to kick a winning score. An honourable loss coming up.

Dale Thomas can accept 1 match for striking J Laidler.
Andrew Walker can accept $1000, wrestling J Laidler.

Crap decision that shit happens 100 times a game

Does it really concern you?
I was hoping he'd get at least 6.
Give him a chance to beef up his legs

HB: Docherty Weitering Tuohy
C: Boekhorst Gibbs Simpson
HF: Walker Everitt C. Curnow
F: Wright Casboult Kerridge
R: Kreuzer Cripps Murphy
Int: Buckley Graham E. Curnow Phillips

I really believe we will win this one. I just have a feeling we will completely dominate in the midfield.

I know the forwards are a concern ... but I reckon there will be a lot of supply.

Kerridge and Cripps were both rested up a bit in the Swans game. With Murph coming back ... Curnow Mr Consistant ... Boekhorst on fire.

Furthermore I don't believe Gibbs played that bad the other night ... the ball was slippery and he made a couple of mistakes that were blown out of proportion.

Go Bluebaggers!!!

Game plan is kick it to Rance who will turn it over with forward pressure and kick a winning score as a result through our midfield.

Trying to pick a side for round 1.

Byrne Jammo Touhy
Simmo Weitering Docherty
Boekhorst Cripps E.Curnow
C.Curnow Casboult Kerridge
Walker Rowe Buckley

Kreuzer Murphy Gibbs

Thomas Wright Graham Everitt

Rowe's a worry but want another big bloke to take the heat of Casboult. He was about the best I could find at present. Plus they can both ruck so no need to pick a 2nd ruckman, who isn't that good.

Ummm ... is Byrne the nominated rookie ... otherwise he will not be selected.

It's now done!

This does play to our strength of kicking directly to opposition players.

This is the first round 1 I'm missing in years. Feels weird.
Anyone know where to watch the game in Los Angeles?!

Give the Cock 'N Bull Pub in Santa Monica a call (310-399-9696). I think it's owned by Aussies...or Poms...or Americans who like Aussies and Poms...yeah - that's it! Have been known to televise the footy.

Worst case scenario, you can buy a pass to watch it online, just make sure you've got 5 GB of data to burn though (just to be on the safe side).

ESPN used to online coverage of all the games as well, not sure what happened to that, and the AFL website is very hazy on US coverage.

EDIT: Here we go, the game will be live on Fox Soccer Plus, in HD, at 1 AM
