I sent a letter directly to the CEO this week following the insipid display against the Pies.
Amongst other things I complained about the lack of on field leadership, the perception of the Doc in the box, and general malaise among the fans with the direction of the club.
To my surprise I received a phone call from him today.
I was impressed that he called, as he probably received hundreds of letters such as mine during the week.
He made it quite clear that he was aware of the concerns of the supporter base.
He said it was his no1 priority to get the grass roots fans back to the club
He acknowledged the poor image portrayed by the Doc in the box....in fact he said he was "furious" when he realised this had occurred.
He stressed that the Doc and Mathieson have no influence over the day to day running of the club, and his determination to rid the club of this image.
He took on board my comments re the perception of our on field leaders being poor, and my suggestion that Sam Docherty shows the leadership potential we are looking for.
He made it clear that Docherty was a ripper, in particular noting the comments he made upon re-signing this week.
He also said that we are in a "true" rebuild as the list was in such poor shape
I questioned how the players felt with basically being told they were not up to it, and he said everyone at the club knew exactly where they stood.
I compared our on field leadership to that of other clubs, and suggested there was plenty of work to do, as the perception is we are lacking in this area.
He agreed and said steps were being taken to rectify this.
It can be all taken with a grain of salt, but I was impressed he took the time out to call me, which is a start....especially since I made it clear that I hadn't renewed my membership and would not do so until I saw some improvement in the club as a whole

Yeah i agree that was good of him to phone and that they are listening to supporters etc etc.

However, i sent a letter to the club in 2006 with the very same thoughts and Dennis Pagan and Michael Malouf phoned me and pretty much said the same old crap that Trigg said to you.

Actions speak louder that words, and we're just talking crap at the moment.

Whilst i appreciated the phone call and was very respectful towards them, i did say that i had no faith in the staff at Carlton and didn't think they were right for the club.
In my defence, they were gone the next year.

Now......... I'm not saying i know anything about coaching or running a club cause i know bugger all - but it is plain and simple this club is a frigen mess and it's not just one person to blame............. it's an entire culture. It needs to change.

Trigg is becoming very good at saying sorry. These things are occurring on his watch.

The problem with supporters/members like us is that we have heard the rhetoric before.

Carlton are now like the boy who cried wolf.

I don't want to hear words anymore, I want to see actions.

The fact he admitted the shortcomings is surely a positive???

So true. We heard in 2002 after Black Friday. We've heard it so many times it's meaningless. I want actions. And unfortunately, in 15 years we've seen phark all actions. Nothing we do is respected or admired by anyone else in the league (other than phark ups which we excel at).
Until we see real reform, it's just words.

Good stuff Mark. I've shared a few emails with Triggsy, but figured I'd leave him be this week, thought there'd be too much competition, haha.

I'm quite happy to accept the jury is still out with MLG and Triggsy, but from my own experiences Trigg is at least being proactive with the supporter base.

Got the distinct impression he's had a long week
Good on him

Well done Mark and well done to Triggy getting back to you.

I sometimes think Trigg, given the way the club is run, has been given a job that can't be done.

Dealing with a divided asthenic Board he's starting from way behind, I'd say almost impossible.

Hopefully sets the standard for leadership..listen, understand, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. It's pretty simple really.

Glad to hear of something coming out of the club of "those" issues.

I was furious last weekend and mellow as the goes by till the next game starts.

I just want those in admin and board to tell me they know the issues and are hurting like me...and you mj
