If they want a blockbuster they had better improve several hundred percent on current on field form in one calendar year....

NMFC has how many members, 17. We have 45,000 this year and next year will have about 35,000. So a 'blockbuster' between NM and CFC will attract about 40,000 people. With variable priced ticketing driving down crowd attendances it could be fewer. Won't cover costs at the 'G'.

If they get it in 2015, Collingwood and one of Richmond or Hawthorn will have it thereafter. I was going to insert Essendon* as a possibility but by then they'll be even more insignificant than we are atm.

Play it in the emergency ward at the Royal Children's.

Ch 7 will love it. Interviews with celebrities, activities, sick kids looking fearful of celebs, donations with clauses to them.

"Hold the phone, Kochie. I've just got off the phone with a legitimate businessman from Lygon St, who has promised to donate ONE MILLION dollars if Levi Casboult can sink this goal from 15m out dead in front!"

I thought I heard Watson say on Talking Footy the Bulldogs and Essendon* were in the running for a GF game, Essendon*? They already have Anzac Day.

Quote:
Essendon* has emerged as a serious contender to play in a historic Good Friday game as the AFL attempts to start the 2015 season with a bang.

The AFL seems determined to push back the season until the first week of April as a twilight Good Friday game looks increasingly likely.

Essendon* ticks several boxes as a loyal Etihad Stadium tenant which pulls big crowds and is based in the inner northern suburbs near the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The return of the prodigal son James Hird will also have massive drawing power if the Bombers dodge infraction notices and he is the 2015 Essendon* coach.

Carlton-Richmond is a strong chance to go ahead as the season-opener on Thursday April 2, despite the Blues wanting to play a Good Friday game the following day against North Melbourne.

It'll be an absolute disgrace if that goes ahead.

It needs to be North Melbourne and the Bulldogs. Nobody else.

If Essendon* get yet another marquee game..... it's just a sign of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

North Melbourne the the Bulldogs NEED this game.

1. Piss off the Essendon* idea.

2. Rotate the game between Blues, Roos, Doggies.

Each club gets a gig 2 out of 3 years.

I don't think it matters who gets the home game. It would almost definitely be a split gate three ways - between the two clubs and the appeal.

Three games of local GVFL football are being played on Good Friday. Poor country footballers and club volunteers being forced to work to entertain us.....

Don't care if we get it or not. We'd freeze on the big stage anyway. Ask us again in 5 years.
