Exactly....who is Robbo?

Listening to, watching or reading the opinions of 'football' journalists must be a real chore. Could not think of anything worse.

Fancy doubting your own observations to that degree

He's the tip of the iceberg if MM doesn't get quick results.

I'm not worried about the media im concerned that our fearless (and faceless unless it's election time) leaders will buckle at the first sign of pressure. Remember part of the MM package is his profile and his credibility. It's about selling memberships as well as winning matches.

I'm concerned that we haven't recognized how MM has operated for 20 years and haven't taken steps to support him if things start to go bad. What I'm most concerned about is that, having sacked a club champ, the fractuos nature of our board results in MM not getting whats required.

I don't like MM but FMD if the board club flowers this up because they can't get their shit together AGAIN we could be the Kangaroos in a decade..

Or not.

Robbocop - in the future, the world is drug-ridden, corrupt and run by a massive company. The AFL have developed a huge crime-fighting Caro journalist, which unfortunately develops a rather dangerous glitch. The company sees a way to get back in favour with the public through a hack journo called Robbo, who died trying to fill his top 50 with only 38 Essendon* players. Robbo's vocabulary is rebuit to 'spell a bit' and have a 'rough idea', all within a Dunstall shaped steel shell and named Robbocop. The Robbocop is very successful against Carlton fans, and becomes a target of anyone that can read at Grade 5 level.

Mick has some obvious flaws...acting like a petulant child this week being among them.
The worst for me is his habit of blaming anyone and everyone but himself.
He did it with the Pies, and it aint gonna change.
He gets defensive rather than looking for answers in himself.
Having said that, I want him to succeed with our beloveds, andI do wish him well.

Can't see why the board would not knock themselves out to support him cimm..but really, it's all there waiting for the hands of a master to steer it. Not sure he's the one...

Well said cimm. This decision is now crucial long term.
Win a premiership with this group in the next 2 years and we have saved face.
Don't and join the Saints or more importantly become what the Saints were in the VFL.
It's that simple now. We cannot refresh, re-build or have time. CG & GWS will take the prize(s), very, very soon
Brisbane 3 will be insignificant in what these 2 will create shortly between the 2.

saved face???

what face????

u wanted more of ratts
payers no reallised potential
no forwards
no settled defence
no identified leaders...
no players taking their game up to the next level

... but we do have an awful lot of hbfers
...in 5 plus seasons and now u think we can win a flag in 2 years?

there will be no more gimme games.

the comp has evened up and we havent used those 5 years to put any daylight between ourselves and the mid ranged clubs.

One eliminational finals win and no prelims

That is a football killer!!!!

were not gunna win a flag.....!!!... but he might stiffen us up abit....

You're either getting old or very forgetful of where Carlton was before Ratten took over!!!!
We don't win a flag and you'll have nothing to gripe about!!!

ps. I additionally enjoy when you say "Malthouse is here to toughen us up but not win a flag"..

I recon Synbad will be less disappointed than you. Anyone that thinks we can pinch a flag in the next 2 years is dreaming. Just watch any game in the last 2 years with any 2 of Pies, Hawks, Cats, Eagles, etc....we're not in the same league.

I would just like the board to do what any good board should do when they bring in a new coach. They should make sure they do everything humanly possible to ensure the new guy is successful.

I reckon they might be waiting for MM to lead them to the promised land but it rarely works like that, the organisation has to step up as well. Unfortunately, I don't think the club see's it's on-field problems as anything to do with its off-field performance. Some of the statements coming from prospective board members in their posts on this forum don't fill me with confidence. Such as, team doesn't do well, sack the coach. Membership is down because our coach is unpopular , membership is a problem because our members are apathetic.

If you ran a business and your sales manager came to you and said "we've got all these loyal customers but they're to lazy to buy from us" the guy would be out the door before he finished his latte.

Like i said, i don't like the guy but if the people who put him there don't work harder than they ever had, he's doomed.

Mick Malthouse is at his best when he's angry. I think he's used this week this week to get the blood flowing and I bet the intensity this week at training has been high and the boys know what this games means to our club.

I wanna see us win.

If we fall short, I hope we go down knowing every player gave it their all for the club p, each other and us supporters.

GO THE BLUES!!

Reluctantly agree NBH, but the point is that if we don't win a flag in the next 2-3 years, we will likely have even less chance in 4-5 years and probably for the next 10-15 years until the baby clubs are at the end of their premiership reigns and their current draft stocks are depleted.

Ours is not a list to be rebuilt. Our list is mature. Juddy has 2 or 3 years left max. Waite is finished. Our number ones are unlikely to get a whole lot better. Our younger brigade are unlikely to be world beaters. If we are going to strike it must be soon. We need to throw everything at it now.

And still don't understand the personal antipathy towards Mick. That some would actually get some degree of pleasure out of Carlton losing because they hate him so much. WTF

Just don't get it. He is smart, articulate, decisive, driven, arguably charismatic, with a proven track record and leader with a capital L written all over him. Sure he appears egotistical and arrogant, but many leaders are, and isn't that what you want. I like that swagger. He hasn't put a foot wrong since he's been at Carlton these last several months.

He's the new coach of the club we love, not your "arranged marriage future life partner". You don't have to love him for his wonderful personal qualities or live with him. As a leader of young men going into battle he looks pretty good to me. I don't want SNAGS at Carlton.

Come on stop the whinging.
