So they mix with other Collingwood supporters on Saturdays and then go to see more at work?

That is why Collingwood will realise 100,000 members in due course.

Yes but they're working from a pretty low base there

Sadly - this used to be funny. Alas- the Pies are that far in front of every other club in every facet of club operations, I can't even raise a smirk. I'm genuinely surprised people still believe that their membership is made up 100% of toothless ferals on the dole or cashed-up bogans.

Collingwood's 18 game membership allows members the same seat at the G for all games, including Collingwood away games.

My favourite Collingwood supporter moment was when I pointed out to one that "youse" wasn't a word.

She got very narky at me for being a "grammar nazi" and then started spelling it "you's" making sure to write it in capitals each time to show me she'd taken notice of what I'd said.

teehee.

If you've got surplus membership scarves from over the years in your wardrobe, put them to good use.

I reckon I converted my 7 year old neighbour from the Pies yesterday

I know you're joking Keogh, but that's part of Carlton's problem. My middle-class Collingwood supporting friends (and there are a few of them) are teachers, lecturers, head chefs, consultants, obstetricians and gynecologists.

They're in their mid-30's to mid-40's so can identify with the young couple pictured with their two kids. They have a mortgage in Eltham, go to church twice a year (C & E), shop at Coles. He drives a second-hand Holden, she drives a new SUV.

Personally Doc if I saw that advertisement with the four wearing Carlton jumpers it wouldn't effect me one bit into buying a membership. Why well

The divorce rate is around 50%

Want me to keep going
Its not being cynical
Its being realistic

To me its an insult to one's intelligence that the people who have designed it believe it will make one by a membership.
And yes I concede it would because society is littered with dumb, naive morons you are conned by the bullshit that society provides
Being a consultant you probably know what i am talking about

What would make me by a membership

One example
Bryce Gibbs squibs it yet again in a match
That Graham kiddie or someone is gunning it in the twos and goes into every contest with zeal
Malty drops Bryce and he doesnt return until he deserves a game

Now that would motivate me to by a membership

Keogh - the average person only views these things for 10 seconds (if you're lucky) so you have to avert their attention from the happy Collingwood family which would resonate with many - to the discounts on offer...so don't rabbit on about divorce rates!

...But wait - there's more!!

I was going to make a cheeky version of that, but the club has already beaten me to it...

The membership website is so-so. I used the ‘help me decide’ tool and for most options it listed a few benefits as well as “regular member benefits”. Main trouble being I couldn’t find the “regular member benefits” listed anywhere, so I didn’t know what I was getting. So I’ve given up for now.

Plus I don’t care “What’s on Bigpond”. I thought we were ditching that agreement?

I met with Clinton Bown and Nicole Rowlings from the membership department at Visy Park this morning. I had previously summarised all of the issues raised (positive, negative and suggestions for improvement) so that they were well informed before our meeting.

We met for over an hour and a half and next step is for me to put together the responses from the Club and come back on line and let you know - this will happen before the end of this week.

One thing that I say in advance is that I will strongly advocate for the return of voting rights for long distance members. It was an oversight when they were removed in the first place. We undertook to review the decision but unfortunately, I was in the minority.

I am confident that this will be considered and I hope reversed.

Cheers

Stephen M

You'd want to be careful with the positives and the negatives around here Stephen...
