I thought it was great post too SB.
I take your points too.

if i think on what has upset me with the club this year..the biggest issues were other people's concerns.
The volunteer situation, and the loyal Gold members being treated poorly, and with mercenary greed it seemed. Not that they shouldn't have progressed with eventually charging more for seats, but they handled it poorly I thought.
I also hated the way it played out with Ratts. Yes, I was in a minority there, but I'm over it.
The other issues, well they were being addressed by some very capable people, and as I don't really use social network stuff, I had felt I needn't go to this particular meeting.
If there is a future meeting, with an agenda of interest to me, and I was able to go, then I would.
I do like seeing these new iniatives. I was hopeful about Ruffy making an effort..but, a bit cynical too.
No more empty words.
Success on field..well who doesn't want that!!!! I can't wait to see how we go in 2013.

success comes when a club does more right than any other cub and needs a wee bit of luck also.

We are not doing many things right compared to other clubs and hoping for a lot of luck....

And thats meant to be the answer???

yeahnah.
I was walking up past good ol' Collywood's new training ground today.
they are beautifying and helping the spaces around the trees with some new pebble mix. Apparently the Lilydale soil topping just clogs 'em up. These pebbles let the rain go down deeper to the roots.
It looks great..they have this amazing facility..right opposite the G.
They have not been asleep at the wheel.
Do we have the grand vision to ever catch up to where they are now?
Maybe not. However, we can still stick it right up 'em on field.

Wooden spoons?
Prelims?
Finals finishes??
Number 1 picks?

Money in the bank?
Memberships and corporate sponsors?

Lets put things into their rightful perspective.

Im pretty sure they have had more to cheer about than we have. :screwy:

The sheer numbers will say.

If you keep going to the well you will eventually have a drink.

We cant even get to the well.... unless its for early draft picks..

Dont cheer them failing.. cheer them winning and going past us so we wake up from our sleep.

Were always hoping the better teams dont win it but we arent even there to win it....

Pathetic loser mentality.

Start challenging...!!!

a whole lot of brotherly love and sucking up ensues.
Synners and Doc'll be doing a musical number from Annie soon.
Bewdyful just bewdyful.(sniff)

 A little more than one phonecall BG. There was another call + the changes that some of us have been calling for for some time are actually going to happen/happening. Coutts given the arse, Kernahan to step aside, improvements to the things that are important to me. Of course there are things I still don't agree with. The business model over-reliance on EGM's/Pratt family/Mathieson family...but that's the chosen path by the powers that be and they're well and truly down it...well out of our control.

So I could just be a grumpy old bastard and do what i did in 2012 and just spend the equivalent in memberships on merchandise from the shop...but that doesn't achieve much other than add a few hundred bucks to a figure totaling no more than $2 million. They've proven to me that they're not a totally closed shop. They'll get my ideas, free of charge and if they use them - great - if not, so be it. But they're listening. In return, I'll buy a membership.

The reality of it is is that none of us will ever have everything exactly how we want it with the footy club - but as long as they're moving in the right direction, and the right people are getting involved, they'll have my support. And they should have yours. I love the club, but the club doesn't have to love me - it just has to respect me...and they've promised to call (and not post any photos of us together on facebook).

I may have threatened to leave them for a cheap fling with Gold Coast (and a cooler), but let's face it - we're all in a monogamous relationship with Carlton and even though I yell and scream at them from time to time, I'm as loyal as a puppy.

Well done. Breaking through denial is always the first step. I think we've almost broken through the anger stage as well. I'll get you to acceptance by Round 1.

I'm happily separated and settled after my divorce last year - still good friends who catch up regularly - no strings attached

This taking a stand attitude by not purshasing a membership ticket is a little odd.

The only odd part is that the club doesn't bother to chase up lapsed members to find out why they aren't renewing.

Talked to the database guy Tuesday. They have cleaned up he database and his should improve vastly this time when they start chasing non-renewals after Xmas.

Well done to those TCers who made it.
Thanks for the reports KK and The Doc.
Meeting half way is a good spot to be.
Olive branches are a good thing.

Good onya Doc. You're a bottler.

I am the type who'd get on a plane and get to a gig like this because I am Carlton (pardon the pun)
Lets say I haven't been well this year, but hearing the positiveness is fantastic to the ear.
I can feel the love. Dane to Doc. Synners to Surrey. Me to...for all of the brethren...yes you too Rhino (your input here on TC invaluable imo).

Collectively we will get where we want to be, as long as the Board and their delegates embrace the Carlton family. MCG here we come. 60K is gettable. Its a number. We are Carlton.

It sounds to me that 12 was enough to have a comfortable discussion, and a number which enables paticipation from all those interested enough to attend and give their opinion.

Really means a lot. Zacs allright too.

Happy Christmas to all and Kala Christougena to you Synners.
I'm on my way to Melbourne this weekend for a month...a tad late for the meeting, nevertheless I'll be there for the first training session to see my boy Cachia (The Doc knows I rate him  ).

Champ bondi.

Maybe we can have a new years dinner at some Malaysian satay joint in the city while youre here.
We can get a verrrry big table....
I look forward meeting you... and dane... and anyone else... and especially surrey.....

Rhino is a gun poster!!!!.. and a very clever guy... he illuminates cos he is not one dimmensional.

Easily one of my favourite posters...

Never late for a meeting.. and my good mate the Princess Park whistler will be back from his tour of Asia to tell us all about it in a couple of weeks.. im guessing he will bring slides.

So im pretty sure a few of us will catch up before you leave... take a chance and meet a few of us.

the more the merrier..

We should do a Greek tavern and do some plate smashing time.. good for stress relief.... nothing better.... TC doesnt come close to a good old plate smash....!!!... little old guy with the sweeper fratically sweeping as a pile of rubble just gets bigger and bigger...

We talked Tuesday about that it would be great to have a social get together for TC'ers like we had years ago. Maybe we could use Bondi's visit to arrange a meet???
