Good to see Yarran in as well add Watson although we are going very tall.

Collins must be injured as he was good last week.

Not impressed with the use of Lucas. Especially given the injuries we have needs a good run at senior level.

IMO Armfield, Curnow and AJ very lucky. They are lucky Ratten is gutless! :banghead:

Lucas and Collins are listed as being omitted. Why bring these guys in for one week? Collins I guess they may be playing safe, but really...

Pleased to see McLean get another run.

Yarran in for Lucas is a no-brainer.

Collins out for Watto is the interesting one, but clearly this is a structural decision.

Is it me or does Ratten every week seem to pick a side to combat the opposition more than back ourselves? I swear we tag more than any side in the AFL.

Wonder if Watson's going to play forward with Kruezer playing more in the guts as a ruck-rover.

I'm bewildered as to what criteria the match committee used to select Watson. Was it his scintillating VFL form? I don't think so. It reeks of picking a bloke just to pump games into him.
Looks like tarzan plays like Jane's little sister. The bloke is 18/19 over 100kg and doesn't like body contact and can't defend. This is a sad indictment on our selection. I have seen nothing to excite me and we have done little to develop him. Hope I'm wrong.

Not unusual for a KP kid of 19 to get used to his surroundings early on. Ex-players have often said that and it's a confidence thing and it's intimidating early on for some. They've said they've looked "soft" early on on to be very hard players as they develop. Watson's played just a bit over a season so it's way too early. His 100kg would not equate to the strength of of a 25yo 100kg player.

The other criteria is that nearly all our true KP players are injured so he's next.

I'm not sure whether or not Watson will ultimately make it, but I think that the days of rigid adherence to the old-fashioned "dominate the seconds to ascend into the firsts" philosophy are over.

The VFL competition, with all the byes, different styles/game plans, different players, teams of various strengths etc. is becoming so different to the AFL that you have to question whether VFL form is even actually a worthwhile and reliable indicator as to a player's form at all.

Might not be popular as it erodes as the "earn your spot" principle but I think that this will continue to be the case until we get better continuity and streamlining between the VFL and AFL competitions.

I hope Watson plays a blinder and sticks it up em!

Imagine him and Bootsma playing together in the backline - the changing of the guard....or the adding to the guard....

Hope Buckley and Lucas play blinders for the VFL... And any other kids on the list - we need depth.

Great that we are giving Watson a crack. We need to see what he can do at senior level, now while the KPP's are injured
Disappointed Lucas has been dropped. Yes you need to pump games into him. His 17 games probably equate to 10 given his sub role in 2.5 seasons. If we had a team of world beaters I would understand the "earn your spot mentality" but there are at least 3 players in that side that have played no better.

I'd say it's because they know how much better he can be.
