Older players who are thereabouts: Collins, McLean

Youngsters who played well last week: Buckley, Bootsma

Blokes who aren't in great form, but wouldn't hurt to see in the seniors: Kerr, McCarthy.

And then there's Lucas, who seems in good form for a quarter or two, then disappears.
And Warnock, who simply hasn't played, so is difficult to judge.

As it is we're likely to lose Henderson, Duigan and Murphy to injury. Then, presumably, we'll drop one or two who haven't been playing 'to instruction'. So... Perhaps five players out? With Waite as an automatic IN, that leaves about four spots up for grabs.

Waite an auto in is good for my dream team .. means no donuts this week.

I don't see why would we even bother with McLean?

He's shown nothing in 3 years? What's gonna happen if we pick him this weekend? What - he's all of a sudden gonna play a blinder racking up 40possesions and 5 goals????? Doubt it.

I watched him in the VFL this weekend and he looked out of his depth.

Forget him........... move on...........

I'd be bringing in Bootsma and Lucas (only due to injury) and Waite (if fit).

Russell should be banished (but Ratt's loves him so he won't be)

Has Brock been given a chance to establish himself in the side - He hasn't played more than 2 games in a row since he was drafted 3 years ago-

blokes like Duigan- Curnow- Touhy- Armfield - Ellard - Russell - Lucas have been given huge blocks of games and not produced consistantly - Yet Brock is expected to walk in and tear it up first game back

The way the club and supporters have treated this bloke is disgraceful

Brock was offered a 1 year contract with Demons, and we offered him 3 years.
I think the club has done the right thing by him and his savings account...don't you worry about that.

I'd say Armfield has earned his spot and also had to put up with a bit of bias against...if it is bias you are suggesting.
Army brings good negating skills, intensity and pace to get to a contest which Brock doesn't: sure he lacks a bit of class, but makes up for that and is ahead of the so called 'better' players on our list.

I agree with Ryan, and I'd suggest that Brock has not shown much when given an opportunity...even in his last game against his old side, against kids he missed sitters and really didn't show he was better than the kids.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind him coming in and showing some of that grunt he can give us, to save the frail undeveloped body of a first or second year pup. We are desperate...the cupboard is bare. So bare we may have to put up with Russell, the underdone Duigan and Curnow (although he did do some very very good things on the weekend, including desire for the contest).

Stick Tuohy in the guts and lets see what he can offer....against kids. Have to say he is a very nice kick though.

Who has the said Hendo and Kreuxer are injured...and Duigan too?

Is it fact...any proof...or did their form suggest this may be the case for some poster?

Just curious. It's news I don't need....lucky we're playing Melbourne this week.

Henderson and Duigan had scans this morning along with Murphy. Duigan for a groin and Hendo...I'm not sure what his scan was for. People are drawing a long bow with Kreuzer, as his form is down somewhat and he is on his way back from a reco. He was going to get a rest, then... Not.

I'd like to see the players with injury clouds given a proper chance to heal, and not forced through.

"I'm not altogether sure the replacements are necessarily ready, but I do know that if we put five, six, seven or eight games into them they will be ready - as opposed to those we've had to carry for a while"
Quote from Ratts in email today sounds like buckley and bootsma a chance this week.

Wonder who we have been carrying?

New to board, been reading it for years. I think my username and his character reflects what we need right now. Be great to get him down to the club and have a few words and perhaps so dome of his highlights.

On a seperate note, we are getting smashed in the clearances and contested footy. I have no understanding of how hands on ratts is at traing but i would have thought this is the thing he would be perfect at coaching. A master class or two from him and guest appearance from diesel should address the problem.

Didn't we hire Paul Williams as our clearance/contested footy coach this year? '
Not only could he not play contested footy but to me it also shows he has no idea about it either.

Master class from Ratts reminds me of Friday nights on channel 10 with George and Gary
Williams worked with Jobe Watson.. maybe he can work with our guys.

out's; russell, thornton, bower, hampson and murphy
in's; bootsma, waite, watson, collins and lucas
melbourne only has jamar, so can afford to play one ruck
duigan jamison touhy
yarran henderson scotland
simpson curnow lucas
collins waite robinson
betts walker gartlett
kreuzer judd gibbs
ellard watson[sub] bootsma armfield
think watson, bootsma and collins deserve a good go, just like others have had.
lucas should not have been dropped, needs continuity.
need harder players at our club..

Outs; Murphy, Duigan, Henderson (all injured)
Ins; Waite, Watson, Lucas

Wont rush new players such as Bootsma and Buckley (not sure if he is injured or not).
Melbourne will be out to prove a point, as will we so will be interesting to see how some of our players respond this week.
Not overly confident, just goes to show how much we have fallen in a very short space of time.

If Henderson is out I'd say we'll just go with Jamo and Bower with T-Bird the third tall if needed.

On top of the injuries to Henderson, Murphy and Duigan I'd add Russell and Curnow as outs.

What i would like to see as replacements are:
Waite, Lucas, Bootsma, McInnes and Kerr

What I think the MC will pick is:

Waite, Lucas, Joseph, McLean and Collins

Time to see whether Kerr and McInnes have anything to offer at the highest level.

I remember Malthouse played 3-4 debutants a few years back after going through a similar phase with his playing group, that paid dividends, although it wasn't against the world beating Demons.

From ratts email, it seems likely some younger players will be given a chance and that the side needs some shaking up somewhat.

Our worst losses under Ratts were against Essendon* in 09 and we dropped Stevens and in 2010 to the Pies I think we reacted savagely at the selection table too.

Curnow is definite out. Ratts dropped that hint in the presser.
