Back to the game

I didn't think much of Grigg or Nahas in the preseason.

I really enjoyed the spirit and bravado the Tiggers showed in the preseason, but I also remember us doing the same in the last decade.

Martin and Cotchin...stop them with Robbo and Curnow/ McLean in the hard ball gets...and Judd, Murphy and Gibbs' class should do the rest on the outside.

Reiwoldt??? It's all about supply. I expect Hendo on him and maybe Bower to have stints on him too.
The bloke I trust as the 3rd man up is Thornton. TBird can read the play.

Spoke with a mad Carlton supporter today, and he suggested they all get rid of their trendy 2012 hair cuts and get a buzz cuts and play with aggression.

Team has to forget about top 4 and play one week at a time...every week.

I don't think we were as poor as some suggest during the preseason.

I have a nephew who plays for the Lions and he said it seemed the Blueboys put the cue in the rack and didn't risk injury...so we can't read too much into that.

All I know is that in the last game of the year the kids played with the eye of the tiger...and expect that to come back in round 1.

Any ideas who we are going to play on the 200cm Tyrone Vickery when he is playing deep in the Richmond forward line.

Beat them in the midfield and it won't even matter, but it will be Bower or Thornton.

Without playing a single game? We would be negligent if he did play.......

I guess a Fair Question has to be proposed to all the Carlton fans who attended some of the pre-season Games.

Whilst I was following the Pre-Season through Talking Carlton, I noticed some of you getting hyped up about Casboult and some other dude called Dale Frazer...

Does anyone know why these guys have not been thrown in the mix for Rd1? are they not ready yet?

Have faith in the MC... they know what theyre doing.
Id say Casboult is ordinary when the ball hits the ground and thats most of the time in todays footy.
Plus id say he cant kick and he lacks fitness and doesnt have an AFL body still.... but i wont say it cos that would be knocking a young player..The Candyman Cazzesman hates that...
So id say the MC wouldnt consider him cos they know what theyre doing (Thats how you meant to say it now)

Second Frazer Dale... new blood should be encouraged to promote itself .. FD has shown enough to be allowed to if not be in that starting lineup be thereabouts. Thats how you get players excited and challenging for spots.. so it doesnt have a reek of the "harderr to get in then get out " about it...
But again... the MC and Ratts would have dozens of rreasons why he isnt propped up to even look like he is in with a chance.. cos they know our list and we dont....!!
So just dont worry about anything.. dont bring up questions.
He needs time and thats it.....!!!

Were expecting too much of our youth to be thereabouts year one.. need to have an apprentiship.

Frazer Dale shows a lot of promise but he blew up pretty bad in all the games i saw him play. For a running player i could see that costing him a spot this early in his development.

Hopefully we get a look at him as the season progresses.

Casboult is pretty good in the air and showed last year in the Bullants finals that he can be a matchwinner. Unfortunately as mentioned in earlier posts he struggles at ground level.

They are both Rookies so cannot be in the mix for Rd 1 unless we have a LTI. Zac and Ed are the nominated rookies for this year.

I thought the original plan was to give him half a game this weekend in the VFL Rd 1 with the Northern Blues, who happen to be playing the Coburg Tigers (richmonds reserves).

With Mitchell on the LTI you would think that there is a spot for Levi had he of been good enough...

Hopefully Jamo does play this weekend and gets through OK. Looking forward to watching that game....

I'd agree with this, and I think we'd be about a week away from Mitchell & Buckley no longer being eligible for being place on the LTI list. They would have done that already though, so it's more a question of who deserves to be elevated in addition to Curnow and Tuohy.

The answer, at present, is no one. Promising news about Jamo. Those who see him in the VFL can inform us better (ie. anyone who tunes into the ABC this Saturday @ 1 PM).

I ttouhjt rowe blew up more and he was a twenty four year old at his second club.
He was on the ground less and did less but nothing a couple of pre seasons can't improve I guess

I'd agree with that, but Dale had played more games at that point. The club dropped them both anyway.

Yes Rowe did blow up but you would expect that with his prep leading into that game. Id say that half was used as another training session for Rowe who was on the comeback trail.

Dale on the otherhand would be in the 22 as a running player. If his fitness would not allow him to run for 80mins flat chat then it would be risky putting an unknown into the line up costing us a possible rotation late in the game.
