Players don't want to let their team mates down.
Medical staff can and do leave the call to players and coaching staff.
Some are selfish or selfless.
Coach's don't like to believe their star players can't make a difference partially injured.
There are a multitude of factures that play in this department especially around finals.
One of the biggest is the pressure and guilt of when they look at their team mates face knowing that they would like them out there with them because they knew how important they are to the side.
It does other give players around them more confidence even if they cannot perform to standard.
Footy or team sport is also a mental as much as a physical game.

Big blue back in business...

Quote:
MICHAEL Jamison will play in the VFL next week in a bold bid to push for selection in Carlton's premiership season opener just five days later.

Jamison has been on a restricted training program since a stress reaction in his back was detected in the first week of February.

The 25-year-old will miss the Blues' entire NAB Cup campaign after being ruled out of the final round match against North Melbourne at Visy Park on Sunday, but plans to turn out for the Northern Blues, who open their VFL season against Coburg on Saturday, March 24.

It's pretty straight forward: he's been doing running for a while. He failed a fitness test last week and probably didn't feel great after going through a second flight to get home.

So he misses this week, and if he looks match fit in the first half next week in the VFL, they pull him out of the game and he plays. If he doesn't, he gets the full game and they assess him through the week.

surprised you're saying that Jimbo, I can't see him lining up, it's round 1, not a final

Mtatch fitness is different with every player. Some hit the ground running first or second game, some take a month. If he's fit to start next week, he'll play VFL. From there it's an assessment process.

You can't argue with those facts......

It's obvious we are behind many clubs in this department.

Since when do you get on the front foot and defend the club?!

It just seems like we always have players getting hurt and miss managed....brought back too soon, or even with a broken arm.

So is the problem how he pulls up the next morning? The work experience kid witnessed him on the track today, flying apparently.

Synbad I like you better as a constructive realist. Sugar coating does not exercise the mind, only numbs it allowing you to mask the problem at hand.......

My comment is purely based on what he said....

Perhaps he's realised that it is basically pointless verbally belting a young player around the ears when he is just about to start his 2nd year in the System. Maybe Badman has had an epiphany and remembers he once started a career where he knew nothing about what he was doing.

Yep, it's the clubs fault Kreuzer did his ACL in an innocuous incident in 2010 & Hampson did his PCL in a ruck contest in 2011.

The sky is falling!!!
