I am still basking in the joy that yesterday provided. Such happy times.

I'm also still amazed that we actually have a young and quick team. Throughout the 90s, even when we were good, the criticism of Carlton was always "too old and too slow". Then throughout the 00s, we were "just plain crap and slow".

Now we are young, fast and furious. Yarran, Garlett, Walker, Simmo and Betts just ran them off their feet. It's such a handy weapon to have.

The other amazing thing to note was that we had 20(!!!) contested marks at 3/4 time yesterday. I don't know what the final stat was but considering we had 3 contested marks for the match not long ago, this was an amazing feature of our play.

Thornton, Warnock, Hendo and Jamo were plucking them and dishing off. Keep this up and we are genuine threats.

Great win by the boys...any win against the scum is great but we showed them no respect which is what they deserved given how shite they are had we kicked straight the margin would have been Portesque....mission has just begun....next week is another massive opportuity....

I assured Mum (a Bombers fan) that the match wouldn't be taking up space on the IQ for very long as I'd be buying the DVD when available.

$35 for a DVD is a bit pricey. I recorded it onto Foxtel IQ before and will watch the game again.

It looks like in the WC pre-match thread, I might not be the only one.

One thing that became apparent yesterday about the Bombers is Fletcher unable to keep up with the modern game. He was off the pace all game long, his kicking was ordinary at best, and he looks spent. Before the game I thought he'd provide them with great value as he has played in several finals series and is used to the big stage. Fletch looked as lost as most other Bombers players. You can't tell an Essendon* supporter this, as in their eyes he cannot do a thing wrong, yet they are willing to hang it on Stanton who had a red-hot crack yesterday. Fletcher's served them very well for 18 years but time to hang up the boots, surely.

Looks like he's wearing Silvagni's 300 game guernsey. Check out the number on the back and the "300" printed between the AFL logo and Mayne logo.

Well spotted. He was. It belongs to Andy Maher.

I thought some of Fletcher's disposal looked rather "Mick Martinesque".

Best move by Ratten yesterday was when he moved Jamison onto Hurley just before 1/4 time when Henderson was given a bath. Jamison destroyed Hurley and it allowed Henderson to play on the resting ruckman and although he was out muscled by Hille in the 3rd quarter he did a good job.

He moves around like Mick did late in his career. He looks absolutely rooted.
