Gee, I dont know about you guys, but Im really worried about the impact a win against Essendon* might have on our Perth supporters. If we do win, the players better be fired up for the week after, I just dont think they understand how it embarasses them.

They really owe our Peth supporters for the loss at Etihad.

My vote for POW.

Quality effort. Top shelf.

He has been owned by many Carlton forwards in his life probably starting with the President.
I personally put Fletcher and Anthony Rocca as my two most over rated footballers who have played a (whatever) number of games.
Rocca a CHF who had 10.7 disposals per game on average?
Fletcher a defender who now runs loose as he has been humbled too many times?

I would add, if not loose he would be pitted against the Betts of the forward lines because of his athletism.

Predict this thread will overtake the StKilda Pre Match thread by about lunch time tomorrow.

Key forwards win you finals.

If Waite isn't ready then Ohalpin must play. The other alternative is to push Henderson forward and bring Bower into the team but i do not see the match committee doing this.

Foward setup

Betts Hampson
Thornton
Garlett Waite Walker

Wouldn't surprise me.

The biggest match, stakes-wise and context-wise that the group as a collective will have faced to date (obviously not individually because Juddy has played in several finals series including Grand Finals and from memory, Heath Scotland played in one or two Grand Finals too).

First Melbourne final for 10 years and against the arch enemy will ensue that this game takes precedence over Sat nites practise match.

Pretty confident we will win comfortably for a couple of reasons

1 - Eventhough we smashed them last time, all the Dons supporters have been telling me that due to injuries they couldnt hang with us..Their bravery was only good for a half..What is more telling to me, was that the only reason they were so close, was due to their ability to score on every single inside 50... Once our defense tightened, they could not score...

2 - Everyone is talking about the bye working in their favor.. I believe that the benefits of the bye, are seen in your second game back... I believe that we will jump on their lethargy and have a decent lead at qtr time which will continue to grow comfortably throughout the game.I can see a 6 goal to 1 first qtr... Make no mistake, the Bombers need the run into a lot of their players as a lot are horribly out of touch...

3 - Their soft lead-in will not prepare them for a finals win..Its not as if they are loaded with finals experience that will help them overcome this..We on the other hand have a solid hit-out with a tough finals side that will allows us to shake of the cob-webs of the bye, and win or lose against the Saints, provide us with the perfect lead-in.

They will have the edge on us in the air, so it's more than usually important that we control the midfield.

They will have us well scouted, don't worry about that. I reckon it will be closer than people think. Particularly if the likes of Watson impact the game and Hurley starts to mark it in their forwardline. Fletcher will be a pain in the arse as he usually is.

Carrazzo (Watson) and Hendo (Hurley) are likely to have big tasks. Betts, Garlett & Walker must fire because I don't think we'll have a dominant marking forward. And we can't afford any injuries this week vs Saints to our key mids...

We really need to nail our chances early and take the 'jitter' factor out of it. We SHOULD have enough talent through the midfield, but funny things happen in finals...it's a whole new season now and I actually reckon Essendon* will fancy their chances against us.

Pound for pound we are a better side & should win.

Only thing that has me nervous is how unsettled the team is at this stage of the year.

Having put it out there that the year is about winning a final, I could see use being very nervous and prob a little over excited in the first quarter. This may bring about a few fumbles etc..

The scum will be the huge underDOG and be basically getting a free swing at us.

However as stated I think we are the better team and will be in front when the siren sounds.

I am not as confident as everyone else is about taking on the Weagles over here at Subi. The home fans here are the biggest bandwagon mob you'll ever come across and Subi is a massive home ground advantage. If we got over the line against them it would be one of our better wins in recent memory.

Carn the Blues

Mark Stevens just tweeted that the AFL are strongly considering having Pies vs Eagles at Etihad. Wonder if that also means they consider having that game in another timeslot also, given the alternative of Blues/Bombers?

It's only poor conversion in front of the sticks that can hurt us.
If we can apply scoreboard pressure, it's ours to lose.
