Nice writeup Captain Dan, but have to disagree about Thornton on Buddy. He is a terrible matchup for Buddy. In order, I’d rather have the following players play on him: Jamo (if fit, unlikely I know), Bower (if picked, unlikely I know), Hendo, Gibbs (if he wasn’t so useful elsewhere), Laidler (not an ideal matchup I know). If Walks wasn’t so valuable up forward I would feel he’d also be a chance to do a decent job on him.
Happy for Thornton to stay forward, or he could go back and be a third man up against Buddy, but NOT one on one.

We need to ramp our press and intensity. Turn the screws hard and early.

I saw the Pies v Hawks game, and I don't care who was out that day, the Hawks can't handle the full retard.

!@#$%& knob-jockeys.

Not exactly building good will for next year are they.
And even more annoying is their refusal to give us an HD option.
Thank God for Foxtel...but then...you get those commentators.
Is it too much to hope some one will put it all together and give us live, HD with top class callers and commentary?

Geez.

I have renewed my Austar account (Austar = Foxtel for country bumpkins) due to the TV rights next year.

I must admit that I enjoy the games in HD, but agree about the commentry being very poor. Last weeks game they called Ellard Joseph and waffled on about a good mark that Thornton took....... only trouble is, it was laidler who took the grab. I could go on. I hope they snare some decent callers for next year. It is a pity we don't have many options to listen on radio whilst we watch TV with the sound muted.

You sure it wasn't Scottie Thornton?

Nothing will ever beat Sam Kekovich’s call of our game for Foxtel when we played against West Coast in 2004 (Walker’s debut). It was so bad it was good. In fact it was hilarious. Kept on calling Trent Carroll ‘McCormick’, even though McCormick was playing for us and looked nothing like him.

I agree that Thornton isn't our ideal match-up for Buddy, and I'm sure we'd all prefer to see players like Jamison or Bower to do the job. A possibility is for Thornton to be thrown forward and Walker to be sent into the backline, but Thornton is not as damaging up forward as Walker is, and Walker's "x factor" could really hurt the Hawks on the scoreboard.

It will be interesting to see who does take Franklin, I'm not sure it will be Laidler (based on the height differential), and given we're struggling to name a suitable match-up, I'd say this will mean Jamison gets rushed back into the side. Hopefully he isn't too under-done if it eventuates, as Buddy will expose it. Above all else though, the last thing we want is Jamison re-injuring himself.

I think there is a place for it. Just not in the finals. Never go full retard during finals. You don't buy that? Ask Essendon*, 1999, "Preliminary Final" Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed...

Just to be clear you are referring to Monga's antics after kicking a goal right????? :sly:
