Even if we do come 5th would like our chances in getting to a prelim..

Week 1 we will play Freo, Melb, Bulldogs, North or Essendon*. Seriously, you could not ask for a better scenario..Week 2 will either be WC over there, or Hawthorn doen here. (I think WC can get 3rd).Both are beatable.

If we were to get 4th and play Collingwood, most would expect us to lose. If this was to occur our next final will have us hearing how we havent won a final in years....yadda yadda. The pressure on that 2nd final would be huge..I wouldnt mind an easy kill in WK 1 to get that monkey off our back..

(thats not to say i dont think we can beat the pies..i reckon we are a big chance in the finals against them)

Although, it would have been difficult to win the premiership this year finishing in the top four with Collingwood looking so strong, I believe we have no chance from outside the top four. Yesterday's results have summed up our year in terms of luck. West Coast have been riding their luck all year with a soft draw and winning so many close games. It is even more frustrating for me as I believe we are clearly a better team than West Coast, which makes our loss to them a few weeks ago even more galling. Chances like these don't come around too often as the competition is a pretty tough one and there is no guarantee that we will be in contention over the next few years. Oh well, let's hope the Blues can hit a rich vein of form and surprise.

Exactly WOW. We threw away our chances with the WC & WB losses.
The fact that the pharmacist team is riding lady luck is the iceing against us.

West Coast has a soft draw, yes... as they should being the reining wooden spooners.

But no one can doubt they're a pretty decent football club this year, unexpected as it may be... they gave us our worst loss of the year. Apart from half a qtr where we showed some fight, I thought we were well and truly beaten and lucky to be within 6 goals in the end.

Losing to the Bulldogs still burns me... I hate losing to rubbish.

Just playing with the ladder predictor, I have us winning every game and still missing out on top four by just 2 points to both WC and Dawks...

Plenty have done so I know but I've seen something very annoying. We could potentially have a better percentage than both teams at seasons end which sends my mind back to the drawn game against the Scum.

The thought of giving Scum supporters something to smile about over the summer is :banghead:

On the bright side, the ladder predictor has us winning the flag...

If Melbourne sort out the coaching situation I think they are a chance to beat the Eagles at Etihad in a couple of weeks.
The following week Essendon* might be a tough opponent at Subi providing the likes of Hurley, Fletcher, Hocking etc are all playing.
Surely the Eagles luck with injuries and winning close matches will run out soon.

The Hawks might be troubled by North next week but otherwise can't see them dropping a game (except against us).

Essendons interstate record is terrible they wont get near the WC

We will drop one more game at least before the finals we wont finish top 4

Not stressing about this season. Hope we can make a Preliminary, but for me it's all about 2012/13/14.

I fully expect that this time next year we're cementing a top 2 spot. And THAT'S where flags come from. Home final at the G, week's rest, smash your opponent in the Preliminary, and queue for tickets for the big one.

5th is looking likely this year. If West Coast was an individual athlete, WADA would be testing them every 10 minutes. Amazing turnaround from the wooden spoon.

Yep my thoughts exactly (or as some would say "THIS")

I can't stand the way the press and some supporters think we should or are likely to make top 4. It is as if we are being set up to be torn down. It isn't a probable outcome given our draw compared to West Coast. We are also effectively trailing them because they have a game in hand.

Yep. The papers still talk up our top chances, despite the fact we're not in the driver's seat at all. They know it, but won't say it. It's purely to entertain the spastics with more "Carlton are overrated LULZ!" when we inevitably drop out.

Have a look at Richmond's record at Subi in the past three years.

Even when they've been rubbish, they've been competitive over there. I'm not ruling that one out just yet.

This talk about West Coast having a 'soft draw' is laughable.
How would our mob fare if they had to travel to Perth 11 times a season? They beat the cats and currently deserve to be in the position they are in. They have done extremely well and have certainly not had a soft draw.
Collingwood have what i would call a 'soft draw' with the second half of the season all at the MCG, limited interstate trips etc.
To a certain extent we have had a softish draw this year, only travelling 4 times. We have no one else to blame if we do not finish top 4

I don't think anyone has said the Eagles have a soft draw at all, but they do have a 'soft' run home.
