From last time:

Bentley - Robbo
Hartlett - Bower
Carrots - Scotto
Fisher - Cloke
Hammer - Jacobs
O'Hailpin - Waite

83 points diff Rd 1, beat them 5 goals w/out Judd last year.

Cotch in, Foley out.

50/50? Pfft. About 5 goals.

Agree that it's good to see Harts get another crack at it. Also agree it makes for an underwhelming half backline if they line up that way. Cannot understand leaving Bentley in the side.

Go through the Blueseum and try to find a worse half back line in Carlton's history than:

HB: Bentley Hartlett Johnson

If you can you win the prize of sitting with Sticks and Ratts in the box on Saturday and masterminding a gameplan.

I have failed to find one, so will have to be content on 2a of the Southern Stand.

What if they line up Simpson Thornton Johnson or one of the many other combinations from the 22? Dont cut your wrists SVB just support the 22 and Ratts and you will enjoy your saturday.

That would have been quick anyway.

You must be joking.
no offence to any hartlett supporters...but this is looking more and more like a hack team.
Ridiculous.
I really want to be proven wrong.
Bentley and Fisher should be out at least.
Scottie should be back..
this truly sucks.
It feels like only half the real blue boys are out there playing, and we have a brilliant vfl team on the park.
As i said..I hope I'll be dazzled by the brilliance of aforementioned players..and yes,I know there are wise heads who scrutinise facts and figures to work out who should play.
Completely unhappy jan.....err Ratts.

Probably the worst team we've had since Pagan left .
It's all very well to make a statement , but if it costs us a win , it's a very dear statement .

It's a 50/50 game now . Could cost us a final 8 spot ! !

C'MON HARTS!
Step up and prove you're as good as your little brother!!!!

I am not too concerned about Johnson staying in, as i think he has potential upside and needs to settle into the team before he's judged.

Bentley... well it's too late he's selected now. Hope he has a role and plays it well.

I am not so concerned about the individual players who escape the chop from week to week, so much as the fact that Nobody on a winning team seems to ever get dropped.
Surely a modern successful AFL team needs to be flexible. Stability with few changes is ideal, but surely winning is more important than sticking our head in the sand and pretending that everyone on a winning team deserves to stay there....

I will feel bad for Bentley if the unthinkable happens and we lose. The backlash might really de-rail his career at Carlton

An eye for an eye, a tall for a tall and a tooth for a tooth.
Due to the onset of attzheimers, I can't remember which game it was but I think it was when we lost Jamo. We had droped a tall and replaced him with a runner, we went in one tall short and when Jamo went down we were effectively two talls short.
Had we gone with Ando for Bower, we would have gone with a short tall and as a result, been a tall short.
Hartlett is a tall tall and so we should be OK.
Ando will get his chance, don't worry. It just isn't this week. When he does, he'll have to grab it with both hands. This week it's Hart's turn. Good luck to him.
Us by a decent margin.

OK, so I get it. It's the "don't change a winning side" theory with a "swap like for like" on the one suspension-mandated change. BUT we were given a football lesson for a good slice of the game by Freo (let me repeat BY FREO!) minus Pav (let me repeat MINUS PAV!). We are too slow, we looked tired and the long trip won't have aided recovery. Richmond travelled oo but the trip to Brissie is nowhere near as taxing and they've had considerably more recovery time. Joey Anderson at least managed to rest even though he travelled and must be presumed to have been next in line given he was the 1 emergency to travel. But no, let's not pick him so he misses 2 weeks in a row and therefore there will be no logic in picking him in the 1's next week. I don't mind the Hartlett selection, and he is a logical replacement for Austin, but how Bentley gets another go I just don't know. Could mount arguments for resting Joseph (looked very tired but deserves to stay in unless the MC think he neds the rest), Armfield's run is great but disposal terrible (we need the run, I'd like to try him as a negating forward but I understand the call to drop him), Garlett (hardly touched the ball, but did give good defensive pressure and provides real pace which we need), Fisher has great hands but everything else is a liability and his lack of defensive pressure and bad disposal can't be carried (I'd have him out), Houlihan picked up later in th game (despite his liabilities I'd keep him in) and Hampson might benefit from a run in the 2's (but there is a bye this week so there goes that idea and given the only option in is Cloke there is another reason Hammer must stay). As for possible ins other than Joey, fair enough Stevens not getting a nod, Scotto a bit unlucky as were Ellard who has performed constantly in the 2's Browne who ha been largely good in the 1's an performed in the 2's and surely Bannister (or failing him Hadley) is a better big body option than Bentley (not that I am screaming for their inclusion, but really BENTLEY!) Yarran hasn't been doing much in the 2's but may be one of those players who will only blossom at the highest level, still I want to see better from him before I'd elevate him. Whilst I like Robinson, not after 2 weeks out due to an undisciplined (some would say low) act and moderate performance preceding weeks. Like the boy, but not for the moment for mine.

But we have te selections we have, so how do we arrange them? I'd like to see Kreuzer start down forward and throw the challenge down to Hammer to teach Graham a lesson. Kreuze gives a genuine option to Fev, stretches the Tigers defence for height and/or forces them to go tall but inexperienced and still offers mobility. How about

Joseph Jamison Hartlett
Johnson Thornton Grigg
Simpson Carrazzo Houlihan
Betts O'hAilpin Judd
Kreuzer Fevola Garlett
Hampson Gibbs Murphy
Armfield Bentley Fisher Russell

? Juddy up forward to throw them off their plans, move away from the tag and provide (like Kreuzer) an alternative to Fev the midfielders won't ignore to go to Fev 1 on 3, of course Juddy with licence to roam into midfield as he thinks fit.

I'm sure all will be revealed Saturday...but it almost feels like we've gone in a man short doesn't it?

It could be argued that Harts is better than Austin

therefore this side is better than the one that won last week

good luck Adam last throw of the dice make the most of it

At last! Some sanity amongst the mindless doomsayers. Well said and agreed.

Its as if 5-6 of you lot want us to fail.

My thoughts to those - go to the game and listen to Richmond supporters. Some of you should join them as you are doing what they do best. Feeding on your own
