No way - after last year's debacle we can't play him on Monfries again....midfield or defensive forward position for Carrots IMO.
I'd like to see Browne play on Monfries.
Grigg against Watson
Army against Davey
Bannister on Stanton
Joseph on Lovett
Bower/Jamo on Lloyd/Lucas

Now let them worry about stopping Judd, Fev, Murph, Gibbs, Betts, Stevens and Simmo.

Welsh, Reimers and McVeigh (if he plays) look a couple of weeks off 100% match fitness which is a bonus.

No worries there Humper re Carrots although I think he brings a lot to the table against Monfries.

If you have a look at the Friday game and look at the strengths Monfries had over his opponent you will find that other than diving as his speciality he plays tall and takes a good overhead mark..then shot at goal.

IMO Browne is way too short for Monfries.

Stanton and Watson need to be pressured off the ball. Stop them and we stop supply to their outriders like Lovett
McVeigh is absolutely gone i reckon (2 weeks) which is handy as he usually reserves his best for us. Humpers, agree with Browne on Mon"frees" but would swap Grigg and Banister around with your matchups. Bondi, there wouldn`t be much difference in height between Browny and Carazzo? Browny good grab too.
Prismall maybe one that slips under the radar also.

With a sound and basic game plan where we crowd their running space and force them into errors, and some strong discipline and concentration we should break them and win comfortably.

The only way we'll lose is if we beat ourselves with dumb thinking and selfish football.

With each passing day my need to see these flowers embarassed grows exponentially...

My head may just explode before the ball is even bounced, to be honest

But we're the favourites!!!!!! Surely there is an exception that proves this rule.

It's a milestone game for Simpson.

They were talking about Watson, Davey, Lloyd, Monfries but mostly Lovett. It amazes me that they think their team is so much greater then ours. I would've thought that it was pretty clear that even with us being a bit down for the last month that we're clearly building towards our next premiership faster then them.

I expect Winderlich, Welsh, Reimers, Dempsey, Dyson, Prismall, Hooker and hopefully McVeigh to regularly break the game open. With their very one dimensional forward line it should free up McPhee to do some damage up forward. If McVeigh plays then combined with Welsh and Watson we will at least break even with the clearances and we'll always murder them out in open territory. Hopefully Pears plays a blinder on Fevola.

Once Hille is back and add Hurley and Gumby to our team we'll beat these tankers with regularity. They just don't realise how badly their spine lacks.

I'd also like to mention that Lonergan had a cracker last week and could really be a force on Friday as well.

I'd say that's just your typical level of ignorance of clubs you dont follow, but isnt any different to all the posts who bag Essendon* for having no midfield. last time I looked they were next to us on the ladder, shaping this week's game up to be a ripper, and their midfield is going alright (particularly with a weakened defence).

To some extent the poster is correct as we are still one-dimensional at times and we dont have obvious key forwards coming through. TC has seen at lesat 20 threads on this very topic during the year. Whilst we have one gun and Betts in a pocket-cum-mid role, we kepe on trying with Wiggins, Cloke, Fisher (Edwards, hartlett) and other mid / pockets to try to get the forward structure right. Its looked good in bits but the rotating forward policy would seem to apply between the firsts & the Bullants.

Surely you don't expect these idiots to observe the opposition other than through Mclaren coloured glasses

For the record our "one dimentional" forward line has scored over 18 more goals than their obviously multi talented forward line :banghead:

Oh and our so called lacking defense has conceded over 10 less goals than theirs

The reality is that we have only been out of contention in 1 game this year, we have beaten teams above us on the ladder and only just lost out to the top of the table St Kilda. They by contrast have fallen over the line against the only two teams they have beaten above them on the ladder and were never in the games they have lost with the exception of 1 or 2 games.

All this posturing means nothing - Friday night is where it needs to happen.

Go Blues!

The Bombers supporters have the right to say what ever they like. They have beaten us the last 3 times when we have been favoured to win. Our 1999 prelim win gave us bragging rights for a while and at the moment they have the bragging rights.
We need to win.

From Bomberblitz:

Quote:
Mark McVeigh, Essendon*, has been charged with a Level Three striking offence against Jared Rivers, Melbourne, during the third quarter of the Round 12 match between Essendon* and Melbourne, played at Docklands on Friday June 19, 2009.
In summary, his previous poor record means that he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has a total of one match suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 10 per cent to 247.50 points. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 185.63 points and a one-match sanction.

They've accepted the weeks suspension.

McVeigh didn't play in round 3 so glad we dont have to worry about him again.

No Hille & no McVeigh = no excuses for us.
Welsh and Reimers are still underdone which is another bonus.

I unfortunately have to agree. With other dipshit supporters I can at least draw on something to counter their taunts. But with this pack of degenerates only a win will suffice. Which just makes all the more infuriated when the team doesn't show the hatred these flowers deserve.
