Off topic, but related to the above article. Do these Journo's actually go to the games. Quote from article above:

Martin "dipshit" Boulton, The Age wrote:
Carazzo's goal on the run midway through the final term was the Blues' first since the 18-minute mark of the third quarter and helped turn the match, but his blanketing job on Farmer for much of the game drew stronger praise from coach Brett Ratten.

 Browne's goal anyone

Happily, that is the sort of performance that will keep Setanta here.

There is nothing more I would like to see that the 2 irish brothers in our team.

Setanta and hopefully, also Aisake both Cementing a place in the Carlton side would add an individualistic, fresh and different dimension to the first of the Carlton 21st century premiership teams..

na, it was Carrazzo's goal from outside 50 half way through the last. Browne's was at the end of the third.

yeah but that article says we didnt kick a goal since the 18 minute mark of the 3rd quarter

which is wrong

cos browne kicked one on the 3qtr time siren

i also read an article today that said pfeiffer kicked 2 goals and stevens also kicked two goals within a minute late in the game and that one was a scramble in the goal mouth  :?

these hacks get paid to write this shit and cant get it right its ridiculous

I posted this in the bullants section but in light of this topic, i will paste my view on aisake here...

"i think the club needs to throw aisake a bone.

it is fair to say that its previous treatment of other more recognised players who have gotten into trouble or in a huff has been lenient. one only needs to turn to stevens' recent article where he acknowledges for about the fourth time that the senior players used to regularly go on binges etc.

so the fact that it is taking a very hard discipline line with aisake seems very random to me.

not that i know anything about what is actually going on - just commenting from perception.

in any event, doesn't appear that its hardline approach to aisake is working. why not give him 3 games in the seniors and say: "if you think you are ready, show us" and then see what happens?

writing him off when he is being bunted around in the 3rds with guys who are never going to make it just doesn't seem productive for aisake or the club."

as for setanta, i loved his game against freo on the weekend. apart from one poor disposal inside fwd 50 in the last qtr, he played a great game and constantly put himself in the right position as link player in the 2nd half. i haven't seen him play too many bad games this year - whether fwd or back - i love his one percenters. Well done setanta in my book.

I agree ebtirely.

Because these players have been here a while now, the way to ensure that this Irish experiment is a success is to give a chance to Aisake...

Even a bit part in a side would be enough.

I can see with all the rap most of the people here on this forum have for the O’hAilpin brothers, we will see all the other Clubs falling over each other to secure their signature so maybe the best solution for both players and Club is to part at the end of this season, good luck to the boys.

Very impressive game and Ratts commented on it in the press conference. Good in the air but very good on the ground. That shot of him in the Age on Sunday is just brilliant.

You guys have said it all. Can add no more of value other than to say that's it's good to see this proud man fight back and justify his place in the team he cherishes.

In turn, I'm rapt that my youngster continues to wear the "17" with pride.

I live in continued hope that "35" shall demand his call-up soon.

He was on top until he injured his shoulder, I think Pav got on top after that, but credit to him holding him to 4 goals is a great effort. Should get the gig on Hawkins next week.

Pav got on top when irish went off or was still debilitated by the shoulder, just as well irish was there because Pav showed up Waite.

I'm not convinced with Waite at CHB :? Was much better being the spare man. And if that's the case then i'd prefer him at CHF.
.

how about waite on the wing :-D Can push back and fill a hole, run it out of defence, and push forward to be an option, not to mention those great runs all day long. Would be bloody hard for the opp to match up on

Interesting, Ratts comments re Carlos.

I think Ratts might be attempting to employ some mind games with other AFL coaches.

I simply cannot believe he prefers to play Carlos up forward. He's played down back mainly this year and has been very good IMO and nearly unanimously amongst TC'ers.

Ratts ran match practice drills last week with Fev high across half-forward and Waite deep at FF out of the goalsquare.

So Ratts might see the benefit in other coaches believing Setanta will be preferred up forward, just as he may see the benefit in keeping the opposition scouts guessing by training with Waite at FF. As Carlos has height, strength and pace, he's a consideration for all opposition coaches in formulating/anticipating match-ups IMO.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it by drawing a connection between these two things - Your thoughts?

I cant believe that with our side is crying out for some presence and firepower at CHF that he doesn’t settle on Bower, Jamison, Thornton and Setanta down back and release Waite to a HFF (moving up to wing).
We need to add more dimensions to our forward line and Waite would do wonders there

(I realise that injuries has restricted the chance to tinker here)
