This is such a stupid point :? . I don't want a cheap coach building our future. Whether it's DP or someone else, I want to know that we don't get a Terry Wallace/Rocket Eade type who misjudge the squad's ability and then trade away top picks for old mules.

There's 26 players on our list now that can rotate for 5 years with success where as Dogs, Tigers, Bombers and Pies will have to continually have to patch and fill as they go.

It would have been great to save all that money and jeopordize the future now knowing we've got the $5b man in charge :?

Three wooden spoons later, I'm sure glad you think Denis is the right man for the job.

Pagan has said before that when he first came into the job he offered the board two options:

- to top up the list with recycled players in the hope of achieving some immediate success

OR

- to start building for the future

The board chose the first option.

Sorry ttd but incorrect.
The CarltonOne boards always had the plan in place with Pagan in consultation.
1st 2 Years without draft picks ... recycle where possible to keep competitive.
Following 2 years with all draft picks ... tank, keep picks and rebuild.
Pagan's contract extension was timely, no?

I don't blame Pagan entirely but he was a part of it.

Carltons List isnt that bad this year

We can win a lot of games if the team has the right strategy

I think we are passed the we have kids so we shouldnt win many games attitude

At times this year we have shown that we can turn it on which we havent had for years. We turned it on in the 3rd quarter against saints, tigers, bombers and stayed competitive with WCE till 4th qtr.

I think Pagan has to work out a better strategy. If i was Mick Malthouse i would be thinking that all l need to do is put 1 player back in defence and you stop Fev. PAgan had no answers for the flood. Saints had a open forwardline and carlton a flooded forwardline

Should of been around the other way

No more kids crap, only kids we got are murphy and gibbs, the rest are early 20s

Pagan has to learn some new strategies or we will go close to wooden spooners again

Accept for the FACT that we are playing the youngest team each week. These 'kids' are up against blokes with 2-3 years more experience, or 40 -60 games. You think that's not such a big deal? Waite 'til Gibbs and Murph are 70 game players.

Getting back on the thread.....

Was at a Blue Suits lunch today.

Cloke looks like missing the rest of the year. The shoulder was pretty badly messed up.

i don't disagree with everyting you say, but the players need to take some responsibility also

for starters kicking points rather than goals, this needs to change.
turning over the ball when we are no pressure
failing to man up on our direct opponents

Just very positive outlook from the admin perspective. CEO was there, as was Stephen Moulton and Ari Suss from the Board. Extra staff have been put on in the football and sales departments with great results so far. Cam Hunter (Kenny's boy) is working in sales now. Apparently can sell as well as his dad played. That's gotta be good. CEO said everyone at Collingwood had been "pretty good" about his move to Carlton - except one (no guesses there).

I'll give a plug to Donnini's in Lygon St. Great food!!!

Steady on mate - I'm not saying this is fact, I'm saying this is what Pagan was quoted as saying in an interview.

Heard Cloke snr on the radio and the impression i got was the Clokes are waiting for carltons position before they decide on the surgery. If Carlton give him another contract for 2008 he'll have the op. Otherwise he'll try to come back this year and have the op at seasons end.

Spot on Surrey. If anyone here doesn't believe it, next time you bump into Malouf in the street ask him that exact question and he'll confirm it for you.
