I know the article has been posted, but if the Hun had any credibility, headlines like that would shred it. "Potentially career ending" is the subbies headline. Read the story and the only reference to career ending is a paragraph on caracella.

What a rag

I thought they would have gone with "Neck Stevens"

If Nick Stevens is forced to retire, there will be a significant gap in our salary cap.

Perhaps room to make a BIG play for Chris Judd.

So let's get this straight, he incurred this injury in August last year, played with it for the remainder of the season, and now, a mere 8 months later the medical staff have got right on it!! Can we afford doctors down there at Carlton. How did it take 8 months to diagnose!!!

I have the same concern. Does anyone know if these types of scans were done when he first got the injury late last year?

Best of luck to Nick in his recovery and would prefer that the club take a cautious approach to this then try and rush him - although am slightly concerned that this was a known issue that has flared up, should this action have been taken earlier? I think the club may need to come and clarify the issue.

I would have loved Grigg to be available but it isn't so, and I guess this may give Jacko the perfect opportunity to prove to the MC that he has what it takes to become a quality player and force their hand in promoting him to the senior list permanently at the end of the season.

I believe the scans were done after the first incident and in the end he did miss games at the end of last season. He copped another knock on it in Round 1 against the Tigers and it flared up again. There was no reason to believe that anything was wrong after the first incident, as there was no pain and the injury had resolved itself. There may have been a weakness there from the first knock and therefore when he got hit in the right way, this has happened.

Yeah that is a bit funny (taking so long to diagnose). Imagine if he did play tis weekend and got hurt. Anything could have happened.

Best of luck to Nick.........................he was a driving force for the Blues this year and the main reason we're doing so well. You will be missed and i hope your back fireing for us sooner rather than later mate!

Just on this topic ............................................ Should we at least appologise for the crap we dished out to Chanel 7 this week?

Nah f**k em!

or we could try to win 9-10 more games and have him back for the finals.

a winning culture, a strong finacial position, increased supporter base and membership and a happier year. 4 games! sheeesh

unless we happen to lose 18 games by less than a goal (while trying our hearts out) I don't want less than 7-8 wins. Another year on the bottom is not acceptable. Can we please avoid the inevitable calls for tanking.

Asking for people not to suggest tanking is about as futile as my missus trying to get me to go to a Tupperware Party.

I agree re: the winning culture, and how it needs to be restored - I think we've seen the bottom of the ladder for long enough.

Good news though everybody! Pagan wont want to tank, or finish down the bottom again this year so he will do everything in his power to make sure that doesn't happen. And that means 2 things - we stand a chance of getting closer to the finals than we have in the past 5 years *with the current cattle on the park*, and secondly!!! PAGAN WILL GET A CONTRACT EXTENSION! WOOHOO!

*ducks for cover*

And get well soon Stevens! I'm just happy that he's ok... and it's not career ending!

Hope Stevens is fit and firing again as soon as possible, and more importantly that his post football career is going to be safe.

He's a landscape gardner isn't he??? Last thing we need is another Adrian Whitehead scenario.

Terrible news. :(

The most important thing is his long term health and not getting back on the field, but is the insurance situation any different to what Chris Grant went through :?:

Let'saskDrJimmae.

:P

Trying to jack up the premiums was a bastard thing to do then, but Grant had a previously unknown congenital condition. The insurance company probably argued that he feigned ignorance of his condition.

All the best to Nick, and his commitment to the contest can't be questioned anymore. You don't get neck injuries of the kind suggested by playing soft footy.

Yes. Unless the mods know something we don't all that's been confirmed is that Nick is injured and won't play on the weekend. The time he'll miss due to that injury has yet to be confirmed.

SAS87 put it down the pipeline a few pages back. He's usual dead on with these tidbits.

So it's not official yet?

Nevertheless, Stevens has been an inspiration for me since he arrived at the club. We needed class and we got him!

Stevens has been an inspiration to our kids with his incredible performances throughout the NAB Cup; he killed the Lions in the GF.

Stevens' form in the real season has continued to ignite the team to remarkable wins from behind.

The kids will play for Nick Stevens. They will grow and inch and go in even harder for him in lieu of his absence.

From adversity, we are going to see the kids become men in 2007. This is just another challenge for a team that has survived every challenge thinkable since 2002.

LTI's will give Jackson an opportunity, and how ironic that Jackson tagged Stevens throughout the preseason training, and now will be his shadow on the list; replacing Stevo..

Furthermore, with Kouta, Stevens, McLaren and Saddo out of the team, we are fielding the yougest team in the AFL.

The kids will prove to everyone that they can stand on their own 2 feet, and they are proudly part of a group that brags the best young players in the land!

Murphy hasn't put a foot wrong since he started, and is doing far more outstanding things than another No 1 pick who has an extra season under his belt named Delidio...then there's Walker, Gibbs...

We'll cover Stevens in the meantime.

Enjoy the ride fellow bluebaggers!

Finals start for us in 2008....hey maybe the kids will get a taste of them in 2007?

Anything can happen.

BB, Jacko is technically replacing Grigga, so possibly Stevos injury may not be as bad as reported. I live in hope! 8)

Apparently reported on SEN that Joey's Quack hasn't seen Stevo! The plot thickens...hhhhmmm :?
