look, i have been a lance supporter for a long long time, from that first game against the bombers as a 17 year old when he rocked my world.

Given the type of player he is, there are always going to be supporters of lance, and unfortunately, there are also always going to be the detractors.

Lance has been tested in the past, and given time, he has risen up in the face of those tests and surpassed expectation. be it kicking important goals up forward, or taking saving marks down back.

The biggest test that lance can ever face is before him now.

can lance rise above everything that has happened and get back to top level form that saw him win the Nicholls?

personally i hope so, i want our leader back, the guy that floats across a pack and takes a mark and converts with a helicopter, the guy that looks like he isnt going to get the ball but uses his incredible footy smarts to get it and set up a goal.

Come back lance, your better than this.

Must be the only player thats carrying a niggle in the league.
Poor Lance.....

and what happened on the second half of last year?
and the year before?
and the year before that???

Lance is the most overated footballer... and its high time he performed...!!

If he cant perform he should cop the same treatment as anyone else...
dropped and then delisted....!!!

thats all... lists cant be made to carry a bloke who is way over the correct playing weight and cant get a touch.!!

What planet are you living on Synbad? Lance carried the team last year with very little support. And now one bad (real) game and you want him dropped and delisted. Can you please do us all a favour and try to show a little bit of common sense and objectivity. You're own personal disdain for Lance clearly clouds your judgment.

Sorry mate were you even listening to those 3AW calls from NYC?
Were you even li8stening to Rexy????

You cant carry a team from loose man across half back... cos on that Campo was carrying the team before Lance...

You carry the team when youre playing in the hot spots and you are playing a GENUINE POSITION... CHB CHF....

His second half of the season was average ... the first half he still got towelled up a couple of times...most of the time he was man seven in a defence.... which was during the games Pagan was congesting everything and not when he played man on man.......which was the second half of the season and the half we want to remember...!!!

Carryng the team????... youre dreaming!!!
The team was carrying Lance....

My lord you are clueless. Just because Lance took a large number of unconstested marks last year doesn't mean he was a loose man in defence. He played CHB nearly all year (hence considered for CHB in the All Australian team). It's because he has superior judgement and positioning and reads the play better than most that he can cut the angles and manages to get lose and get the ball. Thats a good trait not a bad one, especially when you dont have a heap of pace.

But being someone that knows f-all about football you wouldn't understand that. Did you even play football?... or are you just one of those couch commentators that watched someone toast some bread and now thinks he's a chef.

Get over yourself and try to support your players for once. You're so disrespectful to guys that have given a lot for the club. Put on a jumper and play a game of football and see how much it takes out of you, physically and mentally, and then have the nerve to speak so disrespectfully about your own. Campo was one of Carlton's all time best as well. But I guess it makes you feel big and strong to bag these greats of the club...

Synbad is big enough and ugly enough to defend himself - however watching football from New York whilst admirable seems to have addled your eyesight.

Campo all time best.

Reasonable player when the heat was off - getting fed the ball from Ratts, Brown, Williams & Bradley.

Never if rarely performed when he had to do it himself. Hid across the halfback line demanding cheap possessions from the young players on our list who used to hand the ball over too him as he ran past.

Played on from taking the kickouts to boost his possession count.

Campo all time best?????

All time bests dont leave the club in the lurch????

But I will congratulate Campo on one favour he did for us.

His departure meant exposing Kade Simpson to quality game time and the experience has proved invaluable.

Kade Simpson is now and will be twice the player that Campo will never have been. Better overhead, doesnt shirk the issue, gets his own ball, faster, has the guts to take players on and beat them, gets his own ball - did I mention he gets his own ball.

Campo all time best.

you will never guess who wrote this a few years back in response to CG suggesting we trade Lance for Judd

Get a grip, and thats a bit over the top Carlton God, Whitnall maybe out of form , but a gun KPP is harder to find than a gun midfielder. Judd has had 2 major shoulder operations before he was 18. Why would we give a hard core Carlton player up for a guy who might be a cripple by 24?Sure i love the way Judd plays, but who is to say he doesn`t get more injuries later? I think we have to wait and see how things pan out before we make big calls about Lance being crap and finished.....

Why is it so difficult for the Whitnall apologists to understand that the guy has simply not performed anywhere near his potential for 5-6 years because he chooses to not get himself into shape?

The only time since 2000 he has got himself physically primed was pre season 2005 when he looked geniunely mobile for the first time since 2000. After the blues bad start to the home and away season, he allowed himself to get back to his 'normal', overweight condition within a couple of weeks.

Read this article from March 05. This is the Lance that could make a real difference to our forward line in 07.

As sad as it is, I feel his time is just about up because to put it simply, he doesn't want it bad enough.

And to add insult to injury, doing all that why extracting maximum dollar from the club.

Regardless of whether you support Lance or not, his greatest advocates have to realise that people come to conclusions and media set their opinions and agendas after you've had a bad game. If you're 18 and don't get a touch you need to hit the gym and hone your skills in the ressies, if you're 32 and put in a shocker then you're passed it and need to retire, if you're fat and unfit, it's because you aren't taking the caper seriously.

If Lance put the preparation in he could string a couple of stinkers together and people would cut him slack because everyone has a bad day, but people know why Lance is struggling and it's not so much what's weighing on his mind as what's hanging over his shorts.

As for the comments about what footballer's eat, I think you'll find the majority of them eat huge amounts of food and I'm sure a fair few of them get through some junk, but just because AW can doesn't mean Lance can; AW is as good a athletic specimen as you're likely to see so he can afford to go down that path. For Lance's body type he has to work harder and the results are never going to be outstanding, but right now he's a long way away. If he can get back to the shape he was at the start of 2005 then I have no doubt he can still play well for us, but it's hard to think how he's going to do it since he has shown for the best part of a decade that he doesn't want to.

Not to mention the fact that his knees may be suffering the effects of too much of the good life.
