these are huge positives to gain from the club...alot of members would have jumped on board for the Pratt appointment, and probably more to come.

but being 3,174 members ahead of a spot we were meant to be in just under 2 weeks time HAS to make a few people smile...

and its not like we're just ahead of that mark...being 3,174 ahead of a target only 15,000 means we're 21% ahead of where we targeted..THAT is a more impressive statistic.

You can count me down as 1 person with a total of 4 memberships who has jumped on board (renewed) as I have just finished ordering my membership online after today's news.

There's one example but you know exactly the mindset I am talking about BB. We'll take anyone of course - welcome aboard/back one and all. But why drop off when things are tough at the club? If it's a financial thing I can understand but we don't want to be seen as fair weather supporters in the mould of Richmond. Anyway, it's all good.

So you think I jumped on board because of the new pres hey, well you got that completely wrong.

Since 1993 except for 1 year I have always renewed my membership late Jan/ early Feb just before I could start to smell the footy in the air.

The only time I haven't renewed in Jan/Feb was in late 2002 when I joined up the very first day membership started to help the club with their cash flow problems at the time.

So don't sit back there and classify me in the same mold as a fair weathered Richmond supporter

Fridays news put me in a good mood which prompted me and I quote "renew" my membership as I would of done in the upcoming weeks anyway.

Relax mate. Like I said it's all good and any Carlton member is welcome in my house regardless of when he/she signed up. You have to admit though words like "jumped on board" do sound a little conditional. Peace and Love.

How do we currently compare to other clubs in terms of our membership?

Thanks for that Andain.

So we are ahead of the Kangaroos, Melbourne, Hawthorn and Richmond.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

We need to leapfrog [pun intended] over the Doggies and the Saints Andain, not to mention the scum.

You gotta admit..................Essendon* supporters are always there aren't they? No matter how poor a year they've had, they're always there at the start of the season.

Paid up and ready!

Good on em!

We'll overtake the Bulldogs shortly. They are at 20,000 because of a very inventive membership drive last season that saw proberly 70% of their members renew immediatly.

Feel sorry for the Kangeroo's. If i could afford it, i'd buy a membership. Not because i like them, just because i want them in Melbourne.

I dunno about Richmond. Somebody told me they were over the 20,000 mark.

Sainters are always up there early before falling away late.

I expect us to be ahead of every one of those sides by June 30 with the possible exception of Essendon* if the Bombers string a few wins together.

Scratch that - I expect us to be ahead of every one of those sides by June 30.

Richmond has recently updated and its now 18,141 with
"Non-ticketed: 4,608" whatever the hell that means.

As for Essendon*, with the recruitment of Michael and the return of Lloyd there's a genuine belief that they'll be playing finals this year among there supporters so I wouldn't praise them too much. It's kind of like how we were when Pagan first took over.

Funny you say that, I was actually discussing that with a Scum supporter from work - about how every year they think they are 'about there' and heading for the finals - and how this probably had something to do with the retention of members at Essendon*? Either way, you'd have to rate the Bombers marketing right up there - as much as I'd hate to say it...

What's to stop us from duplicating successful marketing? I mean even our lame stickers are just so uninspiring. Things like the Dorks and their numbered scarves are a great idea. At least we have given up on those pathetic voucher booklets I used to fling in the (recycling) bin. And don't get me started on the run-through messages.

Why are we so backward with our public profile? I really hope this will change soon. I took a look at the Visy website and although it is not exactly relevant I would love to see us showing just a tiny bit of its professional design and flair in our PR.

What we need to know guys, is how we compare to the same time last year. This is the best indicator. I am confident we are well ahead but curious as to how much. Can anybody produce these figures?

Only the Pies, Essendon*, Freo, Westcoast, Adelaide will have more members than us this year

I predict we will get around 33-34,000

Essendon* around 35K, Pies 39K, Saints 30K (wishfull thinking aiming for 40K!), Hawks 30K, Cats 28K, Dogs 27K, Dees 27K, Tigers 31K

As at Friday, we had hit 19,500 which is approx. 3,800 ahead of same time last year. However, the marketing drive for membership started early this time around.

It will be great if we can get 20,000 before the wizard cup starts. Not bad before a ball is even bounced

Thanks Steve, 19,500 is bloody fantastic!

Just goes to show that membership drives should be an ongoing concern, and not an early start or a late start; always ongoing!

I bought another 4 memberships on Friday:

2 silvers
1 junior captain blue
1 baby blue

...and all are happy with this. In future they will look after their memberships themselves, but they are the types that need a call to prompt them....preferably from Carlton players, rather than me.

Girl in the Membership Dept mentioned that they have been very busy, and consistently so since the Pratt announcement.

On a side note, I wish she had a bit more spunk, enthusiasm in her voive over the phone...we need everyone representing the club at the coal face to be up tempo, excited and maintain this standard as a way of living, and not just as a duty of care!

I called an ex Carlton player here in Sydney regarding memberships, and his 2 sons (my god son) are junior members, and I was pleased with this, but I became shitty when he hadn't renewed his ...but that was because he was OS for the last month. He will be buying his 2 silver memberships this week. As for the cost, he said "that's nothing...right now we've got to back Pratt and they club".

Question all your Carlton friends if they have renewed their memberships from last year, or the year before, or since 2002. We don't care about the past. Tell them that now is the time when you must stand up and be counted.
OUR CLUB HAS TURNED THE CORNER...ALL IT NEEDS IS YOU!

Get on with it Blue Army!

Well said Bondiblue!

I can't believe Freo have hit 39,000 already. Thats insane. I am happy that we are ahead of last year and on track to hit around 33K plus then you see what freo is on and you think "what the?"

Just showes how much easier it is for interstate clubs.

Heaps of my mates are promising to sign up, and there is a group of us wanting to join the blue suits - may have to be next year though

whats stopping you joining up in the blue suits yourself? it only costs an extra 100 bucks a year to particapate in the blue suits... only real requirement you have to be is a silver club member

cheers

My Dad is enquiring about just who is allowed to be a part of the possible John Elliot let Cotiere group, as he's interested in being part of it. He's got the money to burn, and he'd get a huge kick out of the functions they'll have planned.

anyone have any info on the group?
