No faith in grro? He seems very sure.

I'm sure between his mail and yours, someone could offer you guys a success story of Barker's. He must have racked up plenty after five years.

I have faith in Grro.

Even if it is odds on to happen - this is still a hilarious meltdown.

All I'd love to hear is improvement delivered by him to a group of players. Shouldn't be hard after five years. You're right, I am being hysterical, aren't I?

In the scheme of things, none of the four candidates are going to win us a flag, such is the state of the club. Ergo, the difference between Barker and the other 3 may well be 2-3 less wins over the 2 and a bit years he'll probably get at it.

Don't know why they don't just raffle the senior coaching gig each week for next year and let Edelsten coach us for a bit, provided he actually ponies up the coin?

I'm genuinely curious how many of the candidates saw us up close and said no thanks.

i think thats a bit hard to judge , well especially the malthouse era anyway.... malthouse didn't really let any of the assistant coaches have any autonomy or decision making - it was all mick's way or the highway - 'here's my mantra - go and implement it' the players clearly didn't respond to this method very well at any level.

ratten wasnt as bad but very much a control freak also

barker is only really shining now with the opportunity - graham's confidence comes to mind , murphy has improved, holman... yeah not much i can think of.

I dont though think the past 5 years are a true judge of what barker would be like in a head job (teehee)

fair response, grro, thanks.

I still don't get a hell of a lot out of it except the players enjoy not playing for Mick anymore.

If it is going to be him: be done with it and own the decision- announce it now. You'd like to think then there'd be no excuses for the players checking out on their coach which he acknowledged some of them have done now.

Plain as mud to me.

Lets not go into a panic. The process is still in place and a decision has not been made.

I agree. Seems to be working closely with SOS on sitting out who stays who goes.

I think his ruthless edge has shown through, which is vital. If he gets the gig it will be about who he gets in to assist, and whether he has a say in it.

i hope you're right. i mean it's totally plausible what you're saying.

our gampelan noticeably changed after the port game, when incidentally its rumoured sos had an epic meltdown because he's all about the tank and weitering.

This.
Why wouldn't candidates want the opportunity?
Are they so confident they'll get better offers?

What about Sumich? Royal? Tudor?
Still waiting around for someone to come knocking ...

What about Bassett and Burns?
Did they knock us back?

Did we at least talk to crazy Vossy or the sandwich eater??

This panel is starting to stink.

Just quietly I don't reckon anyone knows who the new coach will be at this stage, and if Barker gets it then he will have been the outstanding candidate. Trigg is trying to move the club away from where it has been and the mindset it has had, so he and others will recognise that appointing an insider will be viewed suspiciously. I have no idea how good a coach any of the likely candidates are and I suspect there are more in contention than JB, BB, Dew and Lloyd.

For the first time in decades I feel we are going through a reasonable process and I have some confidence that we are heading in a better direction than before. Yes I wd like a new committee, but I am not planning on running and I suspect neither are any other TC posters so not much we can do there.

I actually think Trigg appears to be a CEO who understands what has to happen at Carlton, let's hope he gets the right support.

At the moment SOS is the most important guy, as we need talent on our list. I am worried that he got the job by being ex Carlton, a mate of the pres (sound familiar) and having assembled a good list at GWS, which I could have done with the picks they had. Let's hope he gets us the next Jeremy Cameron and not the next Jono O'Rourke.

Could they sign Barker as coach and Lloyd for a different role?

What you mean the former to cut the oranges and the latter to do the coaching?

In all seriousness, I do understand where gerry atric is coming from in the post above. I'm just exercising my right to be an irrational supporter. :donk:
