Even Micky was going on about how good the club was and how the people there are as good as any he has seen at Collingwood and Westcoast.

So what you're saying is that Mick isn't a moron, right?

Just imagine a new coach coming in, and then saying:

"Look, this isn't a very good club. The people here aren't as good as those I've seen at Collingwood and West Coast. But, ya know what, let's give it a burl. It is what it is..."

Give us a break, Club. You're smarter than that!

I wasnt saying that.

I was saying that something must happen when people step foot into the inner sanctum. Either they get brainwashed or things really are not as bad as they seem to folk on here.
I was going along the comment that smart successful business people seem to be happy with the way things are run.

If i was to argue what you thought i was saying i would say that Mick didnt have to say any of that stuff. He knows better than anyone how to fill in a speech talking about stuff not relevant.

It's a very insular environment, so there's a bubble that they live in. Remember that most of the day to day running of an AFL club is very dry. Board meetings are dry - but this is their hobby. It thinks it's in a better position than it is - but only because it's comparing itself to a place a lot darker than where we currently are. There needs to be continual innovation and the complaints stem from the fact that the club is reactionary and not proactive to the needs and wants of its members.

It's not really acceptable in my eyes for Kernahan - a 17 year Board member - to get up and repeat...again - that being a board member is a 'thankless task...not paid for it...blah, blah, blah'. His 17 years has coincided with one of the clubs' worst periods. His legacy is as a player only. It's not as a board member where he has been an abject failure. It's a little embarrassing that he's President in our 150th year (or 151st).

I have no doubt that our board is full of good people. I know two of them personally. Great people to chat with. But being a good person and even a good business person doesn't mean they know how to run a professional football club in 2013.

Carlton Football Club Board
Five Year Plan

1. Get Malthouse
2. Use Mick to get Thomas and a few more Pies people over
3. Add a couple of board members to make it look like we're doing something
4. Plan the 150th celebrations
5. Cross fingers, hope for the best

Thomas has been planned from the start. Doubt a bad medical will deter us.

jeez Brad you have changed your tune
good to see you coming over to the darkside

Whether you want Thomas or not is one thing, to play down his abilities shows your flawed judgement.

Seriously KK I wonder what goes on in that brain of yours or what you have against me.
Actually I dont think about it much but for the sake of argument tell me and anyone else with the slighest interest Daisy's abilities.

The positive for me is his final series in 2010
Good overhead mark for his size

The negatives are
shit kick he hooks his kicks and has an incorrect kicking action
for an on baller doesnt get the pill enough

We seriously lack hard in and under typs in the midfield.
Thomas is an outside runner and like many high draft picks over rated for what he produces

Also he is past his prime

You have to wonder for $700000 a year for 4 years serious over in my opinion and maybe MM has too much of his heart in this decision

So there KK there is my usual flawless logic displayed for you

Whats your

I think you finally realise that crap at the top of any organisation will actually destroy any organisation's goals and aspirations.

That's not really news, although this bit was interesting...

Quote:
Newton remains a viable presidency alternative along with Ryan Trainor and Mark LoGiudice, while Sayers is too busy to take on the role in the foreseeable future.

...and also this bit...

Quote:
It had been planned to reduce the size of the board to seven seats. But that has been put on hold as the board is said to have worked well this year.

THIRTEEN! THIRTEEN!!!

It's here to stay by the looks.

I loved this bit:

Quote:
In June 2008, Kernahan became president after Pratt stood down. He has since been seen as a positive influence on a club going through considerable change on and off the field.

..by WHOM????????
